Default Green Slip Question

I have an active green slip request in the system. I setup a minimum 2 hours from notification to show since I live on the north side of Atlanta with the green slip request. I received a call from scheduling this morning at 3:18 am for a trip with a 5:00 am show. On the voicemail the scheduler stated it was 3:18 am and she would leave the trip on my line for 10 minutes. I called scheduling right back and the trip was already given away and acknowledged by the next person at 3:22 am.

1. Scheduling completely disregarded my 2 hour notification to show time limitation I set on the green slip.

2. Scheduling stated in the voice mail they would leave that trip on my line for me to acknowledge for 10 minutes but it was given away and acknowledged 4 minutes later from that call. (I do have the voice mail saved confirming all of these times)

Is there anything I can do with either a scheduling supervisor or ALPA to rectify this situation? Looking for suggestions.

I believe once scheduling gets within a certain threshold before report time they are allowed to cover the trip by any means possible. I believe that includes foregoing the 10 minute response time from the pilot. I think it's something like less than 2 hours to report time.

I've missed out on a few before in the past with tight report time from notifications.

Doesn't hurt to follow up with the union about it. If the scheduler advised you that you had 10 minutes and then the gave it away 4 minutes later, you may have a case.

Also, future reference if it's on your line, you can just go on icrew and acknowledge. Sometimes that's quicker.

Contract reference is 23.Q.11

Scheduling must give you 10 minutes to respond unless the flight leaves within 3 hours, in which case they can move on to the next pilot after they've called your number(s).

Green slips are processed manually, the scheduler either made a mistake and called you, they didn't even look at your restrictions, or made an executive decision that they wouldn't mind if you were a couple minutes late and called anyway. I used to set times to not call since I don't want to be awakened and possibly accept some terrible trip that blocks out at 0-dark-thirty and they'd call anyway. Very annoying, so I just eliminated that restriction and put my phone on DND. Not the answer you want but probably the most practical advice I can give.

Scheduling will state they called you by mistake since you stated in the request you did not want the trip and moved on. Delete the 2 hours in your request and if they call for something you can't make tell them and they will move on. They will also authorize you to park in short term parking for reimbursement if they are in a hurry.

#1. Get rid of the 2 hour restriction. They have to allow you the same time to report as a short-call. Additionally, they pull the trip coverage report up to 30 minutes before calling, so even with the 2 hour restriction they could have pulled the report prior to the 2 hours.
#2 They probably messed up in the voice mail, and theres no retribution for you unless they covered the trip improperly. Since it was within 3 hours, they didn't have to give you 10 minutes.

Just to clarify, you aren't under any report obligation for a GS, at least as long as you don't check the "automatically notify me" box. Not sure how that would play out. But for any other GS, they call you and you say where you are and how long you need and its their problem to figure that out.

You can answer with impunity as long as you're honest about where you are and how long it takes you to get there. If you're in PTC with your bags packed or scuba diving in Kuala Lampur so be it.

The "automatically notify me" only applies if you are on duty flying a rotation or in a simulator period and cannot answer your phone. It does not apply under any other circumstances so you will not automatically be notified if you are off duty at home or on a layover.

That was another forum predicticted disaster when it was announced. Like so many others not much heard about auto notification since.

Right. My point was, just because the rotation has a show-time in 30 minutes they have to give you the green-slip if you can get there in the normal short-call time. They can't just pass you over.
