Default Green slip for partial reserve day off

Hypothetical situation:

2 day GS assigned to a reserve with 1.5 days off (day 2 is a partial reserve)
  • How would the above GS be treated for pay and payback time?
  • Would pay time off be treated differently if flight time occurred during the off time of the partial day?
  • Does the final block-in + 30 minutes determine how the credit is paid if it occurs during the original partial day off or not?
  • How many payback days would be provided after the trip ended?

Thanks!

In that case the pre-existing partial (PR) day would automatically be converted to a full PB day, and THEN all payback days/partial days for the GS in question would be awarded starting at 00:01 on the next reserve day. Both GS days will count fully and completely for pay over the cap. The subsequent +9 hours will be added to the GS in question to determine the next PR end time after the 1-2 PB days (depending on release time) are determined.

So in theory, a PR as little as one minute would be converted into a full 24 hour PB before any of the following payback time is calculated.

Its a great deal, but sometimes you have to watch them to make sure they do it right, especially in the heat of battle. If there are ANY questions call the MEC M-F and talk to a scheduling specialist in the event a scheduling supervisor doesn't do it right.

I want to make sure I’m tracking how reserve PD and PRs stack for multiple reserve GSs.

I took a 3 day GS that released at 2300. I received 3 PD (Sun-Tues) and one PR (Wed). I received another 2 day GS releasing at 2330. If I understand the above correctly...my wed PR should become a PD regardless...then my 2-day GS should apply starting on Thursday.

So, from the 2nd GS....I should have 2 PDs on Thursday & Fri....then a PR on Saturday?

Crew scheduling didn’t agree.

Thanks!

You mean PB, not PD. When did your second GS start and end?

ALPA Sched Alert 20-13 should answer for you.

This is exactly what I needed! Scheduling guy had zero clue how this process works...it was fixed by a supervisor 3 hours later...and resulted in +2 PBs. If this process is manually done, and I got the impression it is, I’d guess pilots are routinely shorted by scheduling.

again, many thanks!

More than 50% of the time I’ve had a PR, the initial answer was wrong. Strong evidence that the majority of the PB and PR additions to schedules are incorrect, I believe.

To clarify, using a rolling Thunder example where all my X-days are stacked at the beginning of the month and I’m flying GS on my X-days...

My initial reserve days start on a Monday. Let’s say GS #1 results in a full PB day on Monday & Tuesday with a PR on Wed until 0800.

Then, I pickup an identical GS trip.

How is that calculated? Is the 2nd GS (2PBs and 8hr PR) added to the Wed 0800 reserve start time from the 1st GS? Or, is Wed made a whole PB, then the 2nd GS calculated from midnight on Thursday?

go look at example 3 in the scheduling alert Iink above...it shows picking up a GS on what was a PR day from a previous GS.

I’ve read it. My question is somewhat more straight forward, no interruption of previous PBs, no flying over some reserve days and some x-days......just how do PB/PRs stack at the end of a long x-day block as the result of multiple GSs?
