I have bid reserve in the winter months for the last 6-7 years. This November is the first time I recall not being assigned short call at all. Not one day.

How many SC’s people have had on the availability list doesn’t tell the story. Were they working on the other days? Did they have vacation? How many SC’s did folks have vs days on LC compared to previous months is the comparator.
It appears there are more folks on SC each day in my category compared to previous months.

I have listed actual numbers in a category while you responded with "appears there are more folks." Lets see some actual numbers.
With that said it is after all the holiday season, and in that spirit I will be generous and concede that your category may actually have more SCs this month and go even further and concede that a bunch of categories probably have more SCs just as a bunch probably have less. In other words, its just like it used to be.
If this actually was some Machiavellian move we would be seeing far more SCs in all categories not the apparently random spread that we appear to be seeing.
Some have brought up that it is too soon and we don't have enough data - fair enough, but if we wait a year this issue will be forgotten like some other tempest in a teapot SM outrages. Anybody remember how horrible signing the release at the podium was going to be? I doubt it. Remember how numerous reserves were going to routinely fly to ALV+15 - never happened.
Previously someone said the number of SCs was an "invalid metric" becasue Pilots might be flying or have other commitments. Exactly the same as it was before but now your SCs are all 3 hours less. Remember the company always had the ability to release a Pilot early to fly him and nothing has changed contractually.
Others have said it does not matter because the company even said they rarely use guys in the last three hours. Who cares? You are still bound by all the SC restrictions. No brews, no biking, no commuting home etc.
So as far as SC distribution goes I will defer to the talking heads: "....Same as it ever was, same as it ever was...."
Now if you guys want to complain about something that actually sucks lets hear some Reroute Horror stories.

As a local, I would volunteer for the max SC's per month if we got something for it. I get more pay and commuters stay home, win-win...for us anyway.

It’s probably too early to know the impact of this change. Let’s see how it plays out in June and July and March. CR seems to make decisions on a 4-12 month timeframe.
I agree that the early returns so far aren’t as bad as forecasters predicted.
