Default Retirement...Again! (insert smiley face here)

First of all........Merry Christmas!!!!

Now, to throw gasoline on the Retirement fire (debate)............

How are you youngun's feelin' about your 401k/5 million dollar DC retirement after the last couple of weeks on Wall Street!?! Any reconsideration for the merits of some sort of DB going on?

Might as well start a free for all on Christmas Day!!!

Lol. Yeah, I'm feeling pretty frisky today! I used my APD to get the 23rd off and an IVD to get the 27th off. In my category it's pretty hard to get assigned a three day trip when your base, currently, only has one scheduled in base departure (the others are DH's). So I'm home on Christmas!

Finally had the courage to login to fidelity, I'm tired of all this "winning".

32 years to go? Sounds like I’m going to see 3 downs and ups, so I’m not sure why you think my generation would be concerned.

I feel great. I know it’s a long term investment.
The lesson my dad went through the hard way in 2008/2009 market crash, reinforced the principle that when I’m 5-10 years away from retirement I need to start shifting towards less stock exposure.
He had just retired and had to go back to work for the last 10 years. Luckily he had/had enjoyed his work, but it still makes the ideas/principles crystal clear when you see it up close and personal.

Still feeling good. Still way better than 0% DB I have right now. Also if we got one it would be gone again in 30 years when I would retire. Everyone that wants to get rid of PS for DB are crazy. All we will do is get rid of PS for DB and then on the next banruptcy we will then lose our DB and be left with nothing. I wouldn't trust any DB proposal that came down the pipe. Not one.
