Ditto!

But, frankly, when I was on active duty from September ‘81 to August ‘88.........nothing of consequence happened! The two big things were Grenada and the raid on Libya. I was in the Guard till the middle of ‘91. Papers exiting Guard are dated July ‘91. Saddam H went into Kuwait in August and my Guard unit got deployed in December. Missed it by that much!

So I defer any kudos to my older son who spent a year over in Afghanistan and my younger son who is active duty now.......when a lot is going on in the world and here in the US. They are the ones (along with every other person in the military) who deserve it.

Now, I do use the parking for veterans only at Home Depot!

Every military service obligation (MSO) is 8 years. No way his is only 7. Likely it’s 3 years active and 5 reserve (active or IRR). Typically non scholarship ROTC or OCS is 3 active, ROTC scholarship is 4, and service academy 5. At least that’s what I remember.

A PCS ADSO in the army conus to conus is 1 year. Everything ADSO related can be found in AR350-100...just open the pdf and search PCS.

Thank you for that document. His ADSO is 3 years. I didn't see any reference in that document for the reserve obligation. I'm just going by what he thought it was.

Also, according to that document, it looks like his PCS move obligation should be 1 year from arrival at his new station. He's good with that. It would add about 5 months to his AD.

Thanks again!
