I'm not privy to the set-up they're using but I can surmise. I'm curious why they upload the pairings into iCrew before the bidding solutions are even run. I'm sure it's to simplify things on their end. I would think they could upload the pairings into NavBlue without them being uploaded to iCrew. It's so easy to see the solutions as they run and see what trips I'm (or others) are getting. To keep it truly unknown until posting awards, would require something along the lines of:
1. A separate server, with either intranet access blocked, or no access at all, or:
2. Not loading the pairings into iCrew until after the awards are posted.
As each solution (run) is processed, it assigns names to rotations. If you're online, there is a way to see the process unfold. They'd have to do something like the above mentioned to keep it unknown until the publishing of awards. The pairings being uploaded to NavBlue and iCrew and the visibility of the names being assigned during the solution process tells me from a programmer view all I need to know.
Bottom line, I get what I get in the end, but the 0's and 1 side of me is curious!

Thanks guys. You have renewed my faith in this forum by answering a question with a real answer and not demeaning or berating in the process. (But dang it, now what can I get upset and complain about after you gave the company an excuse for late schedule releases?!)

This is just for the curious.
There's a way you can see the trips it is assigning as it makes it's runs. I counted at least 5 runs on the B side. The final run occurring after the union looked it over I'm guessing. What I've seen is, sometimes the last trip or two in the month may change from run to run, but the first part of the month is usually pretty much the same each run. It gives you a very good idea of the exact days off you'll have.
Here is the bad grammar version for those who want to have at it:
They is a way you's guys can see the trips it is assignen as it makes it's runs. I cownted at least 5 runs on the B side. The final run okurring after the union looked it over I'm gessing. What I done saw is, sometimes the last trip or too in the month may change from run two run, but the first part of the munth is usualie pritty much the same each run. It gives you very good eye-dea of the eggsact days off you'ns will have.

To give you an example of the solutions: The first solution it ran for me, it had me just below the LCW minimum. Actually, the first two solutions. It tried to swap one trip for another but it wasn't enough, so it ran another solution.

They once released the schedules in batches of two or three runs. It was also much easier to backdoor your schedule early. They did however put out over and over again that schedules were never final until posted in DBMS. Despite the above they were inundated with phone calls and slammed on forums when a category was rerun and schedules changed prior to posting in DBMS. Seemed often to be someone claiming they ran out and spent 10 grand on a vacation they can’t change. They got tired of it.
