HrkDrvr: "I don't want to actually argue the merits of the post so I'll instead play the military card. No one would ever say anything ever negative about the military." Lol. So yes, my reading comprehension was lacking, awaiting clarification from Karnak. And he can answer for himself. And I can answer for myself, so don't put words in my mouth. I'm happy to argue the merits of his post once I know what he meant. I asked him a simple question and he's yet to answer, but you knew that too. |

Slight thread drift, how is per diem calculated while doing the AE training in Virginia Ave? Not based in Atlanta. Kinda hoping it's 2.45 X 24 hrs for the 4ish weeks.

That should be correct. When I was there for training I got a Lyft to the closest grocery store for supplies, like snacks, beer and some breakfast items. My room at the North hotel had a fridge, and I believe you can request one for free if it doesn't have one.
Also Amazon will deliver groceries to the hotel with a 2 hr delivery window, but i have not tried it yet. |
There is a Walmart about 2 miles north of VA ave. $5 Uber ride away.

It had a "kitchenette" with a fridge, microwave, sink and a small table.

How long ago was that? I called the hotel about getting one of those rooms and was told "no can do". Maybe there is a chance. Ill keep asking. It sure would make a month down there more tollerable.

I made 40k more in 2018 vs 2017, all my deductions the same yoy. 2018 refund 2.8K, and that’s paying 3K AMT. 2019 payment due 1.3K, 0$ AMT. The difference is what he took away, union dues 5.7k+ deduction, perdiem deduction well north of 10K... my effective tax rate several points higher. I’m a conservative, but Trump tax hike is taking food off my table. He ain’t no friend of labor.. that’s what we, pilots, all are, we know that, right???
I don't understand why people get so focused on what they got back in a refund, or how much they had a check to write out. And the way our tax code works, the more you're going to find yourself in a higher bracket. |
