My rate went down about 3.5%. I keep running the numbers and it’s a decent rebate. With all the uncertainty I changed my w4 to 0 at the start of last year . Now that I grasp my tax burden I’ll tweak it from here. My state is one of the few that allows to tax deductions for per diet/work related expenses. Child tax credit helped out a lot this year.

"Crumbs, I tell you...just crumbs"!!!!

Pelosi said it and she is right,....since 50% of the population pays 0 federal income tax....the new tax law amounted to crumbs ...OR LESS

For the rest of us "rich" people who shoulder the tax burden, it amounted to a big tax savings....thousands of $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Both political parties try to spin the "truth".....I prefer to let the facts plead their own case.....in this instance I know who is right and who is wrong

I remember that. I think he meant that filing is voluntary. But if you don't file the government will simply asses (like the property appraiser does).

Honestly we would all be better off getting rid of all dedications and credits.

Agreed. Close all loop holes and tax capitol gains like normal income.

You wouldn't even need to file taxes. W2's and 1099s are already sent to the IRS anyway. They know how much and by what means you make your money. That's why failing to report income is the #1 way to get flagged for audit.

You would miss the vast underground of cash unreported income. A VAT tax and elimination of the income tax fixes that.

while you are 100% correct, i enjoy getting a refund instead of writing a check...even though i know i gave the government an interest free loan.....what i do think is complete BS is that if I get a refund from the state (which is my money that I've over paid) that it's treated as income the following year.
