Since November 1st, this has been my layover cities in the US.

Cities govt Per Diem rate is not far from current Delta Rate
2 SLC
4 ATL
1 MCO

Not cheap
3 SEA
4 LAX
2 SAN
4 SFO
1 DEN
1 BOS

I'm running about 2/3 of my layovers in cities where the GSA MI&E rate is significantly above what we get.

I know this can be base / fleet dependent and time if year as well, but I only have so much control over where I go.

Because they aren’t getting the per diem they should and conserve knowing they can eat on the plane. How is about his different from the passenger who takes a 3 day international business trip? They spend the same amount of time on the airplane and eat wellin first. They even get the meal right as it’s prepared.

My taxes went way up for four reasons:

-I’m single
-I make good money (my marginal tax rate went up from 28% to 32%)
-I own a home (SALT deduction capped at 10k)
-I’m a pilot (lost union expenses, uniform cleaning, and per diem differential)

I’m obviously really annoyed with this GOP tax reform as it raised my taxes and a significant amount of other people (pilots were hit especially hard).

George Bush passed a tax cut that benefited 100% of Americans. Barack Obama made that tax cut permanent for 99% of Americans. Now Trump comes along and actually RAISES taxes on lots of Americans, and his reform cost more than the previous two... WTH
that's actually because of the state you live in. Maybe your state should lower your state taxes?

My taxes went up also.

Married, three kids, file jointly, made a little more then last year, house is paid off.

1. Standard deduction doubled to 24K up from 12.5K.
2. Lost the personal exemptions that totaled 20.5K
3. Child tax credit went down.
4. AGI and tax paid went up because of the above.

5. Bonus surprise, due to the lower withholding rates I get to write a check to the IRS this year.

Genuine question, I sinecerly wonder what the "tax is theft" crowd thinks on this. How do we pay for many of things that make life great here such roads/highways/state parks/etc... and/or fund the defense of our nation?

Eliminate the income tax and switch to a VAT. Captures the massive underground economy that does not pay taxes.
