To try to get the thread back on topic....

It makes sense to me for someone in management to say they want a contact before amendable date.

I’m sure they are cognizant of Ed saying “no contract this year” + the anti-union/ buy an Xbox situation going on right now = bad optics for the company...especially if we don’t get a contact and the NMB gets involved.

I agree with you. Ed's comment could imply the company is not bargaining in good faith. I don't believe the company wants a deal before the amendable date. I think this is more in response to our chairman's update. Don't read too much into these letters. They don't mean much in the big picture.

I guess it depends on personal philosophy. I tend to lean towards your outlook on the Captain/First Officer relationship. Some guys need that superiority and level of accomplishment in order to feel personal gratification. You don’t and neither do I but some guys require that. Captains and First Officers are just cogs in the system, each cog has a purpose.

It’s similar to the relationship between being a pilot and being a “Delta pilot”. “Through these doors walk the best pilots in the world” is the banner in the JFK crew room....compared to who, Qantas? Don’t get me wrong, Delta is my dream job but we aren’t even close.

Rut-Roh! AA has the same motto plastered above the entryway doors of their training center. How can we get this resolved? News fight? Drinking contest? Number of ASAP submissions?

"...ultimately desire to have a contract completed by the amendable date." It's meaningless. Kinda like saying I desire to buy you a pony. Zero consequence or credibility hit when - er, I mean if - it doesn't happen.

Wonder why his management picture on the pilot lounge wall, in JFK at least, has him in an FO uniform. I also wonder what the purpose is for him to fly as a Captain so far out of seniority.

I disagree. Delta is printing money and American, United, Alaska and Southwest are a labor nightmare.

Simply smart business to wrap up C2019 on time.

Time will tell.

Our stock would surge 6.9% if we had a timely deal that passed with a good margin.

Someone posted on SkyHub/Net a pic of him doing a cabin announcement which clearly showed 4 bars.

What are they looking for with this info? Are they looking for guys who fly slow on every leg but the last?

I heard we had a guy that flew around at .74 Mach on every leg of his trips except the last leg to base, where he did .80-.81. He got called on the carpet to explain after he was discovered by MGT and they looked at his history.
