Hope you made enough to retire. Some of us will move up a number and the company will have to hire at least two more pilots!

Even if he retired he'll still be on here carrying water.

Once he gets his dream shot of management, which i suppose i should check if he isnt already, he'll be buyout and we'll need the extra pilots.

Even if I became wealthy I'd keep my Delta seniority. It's a passion for me.

You do you. As for me, I am glad my passions are outside my job. The job merely allows me to pursue them until I become a full-time passion pursuer.

I love flying, the occasional challenge of weather and the people but the rest is work.

Speaking of management. Saw the weekly update on this ASCEND program. What’s that program all about? I mean, I read the description of the program, but are those pilots being primed for management one day?

I believe the desired progression is,
Altar boy -> eagle scout -> USAFA -> F-15E -> M88B -> Ascend -> ATL CPO.

Ive seen a lot of management boot lickers lose their virginity on a bankruptcy, base closure, downgrade, furlough, and sometimes all at the same pilot, break from their stupid boot licker ways. But the "passion" to stay at home are strong with them, they work hard a few years, act like theyve earned a break, and theyll rationalize that in amazing ways.

The narcissism is real enough they like to admit "ive got a little/lot of that in me, thats part of my drive to better myself blah blah blah."

*Shrug* HR find these clowns, all you can hope for is when their delicate ego gets stomped on they double down hard on ALPAs side and dont betray us.
