Hurricane pay question

He might not have been nice about it, but exactly what other hourly job pays you for taking time off to take care of your family as a result of a natural disaster? Especially when there is a contract which dictates under what circumstances you are pay protected and which you are not, and natural disasters aren't covered items? I'm a hawk when it comes to calling out the company for violating the contract and I'm 100% for improving weak areas in our contract but the company isn't a charity, I don't see why somebody would feel they are owed pay for work that isn't performed (when it's through no fault of the company.)

Was I arguing they didn’t?? I’m not sure how my post triggered you into your automatic “must defend company “ response, but it was posted TIC. As 007 said earlier, lighten up Francis!!

You can live on west coast with fires and mud slides. Plain states with tornadoes and snow storms. Northern states with blizzards and polar vortex’s. Or on the gulf coast, or SE coast and deal with hurricanes. You learn to deal with it. Going to be something no matter where you live. Dorian is hitting my house right now. I’m at work, family is at home. Prepped over the weekend and off I went. My Marine wife can handle it. Painter just finished on Tuesday for hurricane Florence repairs/house upgrades. It is what it is, keep moving forward....

Wow. You and I have completely different priorities..... not that there anything wrong with that. There are plenty other pilots in unaffected areas that would gladly pick up the slack.

I flew with an ER Captain to GRU one night. He was on an OOBGS....he was ATL, we were DTW. He was hoping to get another GS in two weeks so he wouldn’t have to attend his daughters (possibly step daughter, it was a while ago, or else I’m still too shocked to believe it) wedding. GS money is a powerful drug.
