Mi crew question

Anyone know how to make my iPhone sync MiCrew calendar with my google calendar app? It will sync with the apple calendar but the apple cakes sucks and my wife and I are trying to share our calendars on google calendar and the only thing I can’t get to work right is my crew

53x11 09-08-2019 01:09 PM

Well, you’re pretty much out of luck. There used to be a method where you could save your icalendar as an .ics file if I remember correctly, using Firefox with an icrewmax add on extension. Icrewmax stopped supporting versions newer than 57 of FF browser. I suppose you could download the old version 57 if you can and then use the icrewmax add on extension but that’s a lot of trouble to go through. There is one way to that your wife can see your schedule the exact same as MiCrew. It’s not condoned by me. 🤓

There used to be a way you could do this in your iCloud account but Apple has disabled the feature.

53x11 09-08-2019 01:16 PM

There is a way to make your icalendar viewable in google calendar but the problem is you can’t then sync that to your wife’s. It would only be viewable on your phone.

Jiggawatt 09-08-2019 02:00 PM

Google calendar is my primary calendar. To show micrew info on my wife’s calendar (she uses iPhone calendar), I sync MiCrew, which puts all the events into my iphone’s Calendar. Then I go through each event (in the Calendar app) and change the calendar that the rotations are assigned to from the default “micrew” to my google calendar, which is shared with my iPhone. So basically my iPhone calendar is just a conduit to get flying events onto my google calendar. Just takes a couple minutes once a month, and the events instantly appear on my Google Calendar.

Then my wife can just display my google calendar, and voila, she can see my flying schedule.

Not very efficient for lots of one-day events (reserve/vacation), but works well for a line of 3-6 rotations.

Not sure that fully meets your needs, but hope it helps.

I’m guessing you have an Android phone? If that’s the case you can do it but it won’t work the other way around. There’s a way with an iPhone if you download the google calendar to use the google calendar as a viewer by linking it to your iCloud account. If you have an iPhone and are able to do what your saying, then mo’ power to ya!

53x11 09-08-2019 02:21 PM

Never mind, I didn’t proof read good enuff! :) . My son and I are trying to write an add on that we can use. Wasting our time! Ha!

53x11 09-08-2019 02:31 PM

My son is laughing his butt off. He said that’s a lot of work but he forgot you could do that. I’m stuck in yesteryear. There used to be a super easy way in iCloud to do it. Nice work jiggawatt!

Just download RosterBuster from the app store. Subscribe to your calendar once you login. Share the link with all your friends and family you want. Whenever there is an update to your schedule just refresh your calendar in RosterBuster and it will automatically update all your friends and families calendars. This will work in both iCal and Google Calendar.

DRaab 09-08-2019 10:07 PM

It’s an iCloud calendar. Just share it. Easy.

Turn on iCloud calendar in the iPhone iCloud settings. In the google calendar app settings turn on iCloud calendars. In your iPhones calendar app share the MiCrew calendar with whomever.
Done.

Then cuss time zone support display issues if you are a commuter.

DRaab 09-08-2019 10:11 PM

Also you wife will have to select icalendar in her google calendar app and then select the micrew calender you shared with her in order to see it.

DRaab 09-09-2019 04:51 AM

Yes you can do it. I share my micrew calendar with my wife on her Google calendar app on her iPhone.

Under iCloud settings enable I-calendar.

In the Apple calendar app share the micrew calendar with your wife

On her device enable I calendar in the iCloud settings.

In the Google calendar app settings enable I calendar and select the shared micrew calendar .

Should be it.

I have the same problem. Google calendar is my primary, but my iPhone only wants to sync to icalendar, even though google is selected as my primary, and I even deleted icalendar.

I just started texting her a screenshot of my schedule. It was the easiest solution.

Well once the item is on your icalendar you can edit it to your gmail calendar but you have to do it item by item.

53x11 09-09-2019 06:16 AM

I’m going to try to get my son to write a free app to convert it/sync it to google calendar. He’s busy with high school and he’s the lead coder for Halo fan game Coral, yada yada, so I can hear him now, “ I don’t have time dad!”

DRaab 09-09-2019 06:20 AM

You can do it. I’ve posted step by step twice. Pending moderator.

RosterBuster I agree is the way to go. Tried everything else.

No, you don’t. You can set up an iCal calendar that auto syncs to google calendar

Swoopndock 09-09-2019 11:50 AM

Thanks for the info. I’ll try some of the suggestions

I wasn’t implying that was the ONLY way, just one way. Maybe I don’t want to share everything in iCal.

You don’t have to. You can make an MiCrew- specific calendar in iCal and sync only that. You don’t have to do anything item-by-item.

LumberJack 09-11-2019 12:27 PM

I tried RosterBuster for a year. Four months of that had problems syncing with iCrew so I didn't renew. This was on Android so maybe the Apple app is more reliable.

MiCrew question

I just joined Delta. How can I pull up someone else’s schedule in the app. I’m trying to swap trips to fly with a friend

Select the 3 parallel bars on the top left corner and find "friends". Hit the + sign on the top right corner and enter the person's name or employee number to send them a friend request. They can then go in their app and approve your friend request. Once they approve you'll see their name listed on the friends tab and selecting their blue employee number will take you to their schedule. Just be very careful since any micrew friend who is in the same category as you can just view your schedule from their app and take your trips without your approval. So make sure your friends are really your friends!

Another dumb question - miCrew

Another dumb question. I’m trying to swap to get on a flight with a friend. Is there a way to see who is working in a specific fight? I want to make sure a problematic individual is not on the flight. I had to intervene in a dispute last time this person worked a flight I was in. I ended up reporting her as she was clearly at fault. Just want to avoid an awkward situation. Thanks for your help.

I was able to use an Android app to share my schedule with my wife. The app is TimeTree.

I installed TimeTree on my Android phone and then under Settings selected "Import External Calendar." I was able to select the CrewAcc MiCrew, in addition to my Gmail and Hotmail calendars.
It imported all events from those calendars.

I don't know if this automatically updates as I make changes, or if I simply need to reclick the External Import to send events out to the server.

I then, under settings, selected "Invite Members." The app sent an email to my wife instructing her to a) install TimeTree, and to b) join the shared calendar.

She now sees in her Android, under TimeTree, my full Google Calendar to include all MiCrew events.

Sharing schedule with spouse, bad move Mav! Forever more you will need permission to swap, pick up, drop, green slip…. Just give her your iCrew and PBS login info. /s

Sharing schedule with my wife is a good thing. She keeps me prioritizing family over work. Still married and still happy. Can’t complain. I’ve said this before. Your kids do not care that you are a captain. They know you as either being home or being away. It’s that simple to them.

Marriage is a two way partnership that takes lots of communication and planning. I start coordinating schedules with my wife the first week of the month before bidding. I set realistic expectations based on seniority and may even create a few windows of opportunity for GS. On some occasions it takes two months of planning to work within 100/672. It’s so much easier bidding around known events than swapping out of a mistake. We share responsibility for the bid results, which can preempt an argument over a schedule conflict.

As an added bonus, when she has input to the initial award, it’s much easier to say “What do you think about missing dinner with the neighbors on Friday for a 4 day GS?”

Forgotmyhat 10-18-2023 10:22 AM

Wow, my wife has absolutely zero SA or care about my schedule. She just goes along with the flow. Doesn’t really know the difference between an FO and a captain. I flew the same jet in the military for 20 years, she couldn’t pick it out of a line-up of a balloon, a helicopter, and an airplane. Just never cared one way or the other. Been married 20 years…

We have several shared calendars. I don't nearly work 100/672 but I do have her put her known work events and personal events on her calendar so I can bid around it.

I'm rarely in that situation either, but sometimes stacking up trips at the end of the month, then beginning of the following month creates an issue. It's amazing how much you can condense your schedule with the daily average exceeding 7 hours.

Pre-bid - “you’re going to be home for Halloween right?” Me - “I won’t know for sure until Nov schedule is out.”

wide out - “Hey, looks like I’m home Halloween!” Her - “That’s great, but I really need you home on the 5th.” “Umm. I’m not going to be home on 5th…”

Schedules published - “Hey, I could be home in 5th by WSing this 5 day on 30th, but then I won’t be home for Halloween.” Her - “5th is more important do it”. Successfully WS and drop.

10 minutes ago - “So on Halloween…”. Me “I’m not home on Halloween.”

Boy, that sure sounds familiar.

According to my wife, there are wives on the Widget Spouse FB page that read the contract and know RR rules....one was asking if her hubby was due a PB day for getting extended into next calendar day from international trip.

That's funny...I always joke that I don't think my kids know what I do for a living. I mean, they knew I was in the military because we kept moving, but not much more than that :D

Thar sounds absolutely miserable...my SO barely knows the difference between a Captain and FO (just knows I make more money now but my schedule is worse 😂. ).

I disagree. My wife is a true partner and we work the angles together. I’ve helped her with some aspects of her job before too and give her advice. Neither of us is overbearing. It’s nice to have someone to ping ideas off. Though, she still has no clue where I am when I am gone which is funny.

No need, with Apple Air Tag.
