Default RAW Value question

If you look under the “RAW” column under the reserve availability list, it will give a number such as 1/50.

Is the “1” that is used to sequence reserve utilization order? That is to say, if everyone in your days available bucket has a “1” they assign in inverse seniority order versus someone who has a “1/50” compared to someone who has a “1/30”?

RAW score grouping = 1
RAW score = 50

And so, is the RUO based on the raw score grouping (1) in inverse seniority and not the RAW score (50)?

The raw score grouping is how reserves are stacked within days of availability groupings, in inverse seniority order. The raw score, a measure of how much you’ve been used/working, affects your raw score grouping. I think you’re raw score grouping changes for every 40 points of raw score. So after 40, you’ll have a 2 rsg, and drop to the bottom of all the 1’s in your days available bucket.

Basically, they will assign trips from bucket 1 first, for trips that match days of availability. Assuming a 3-day trip(s) in open time, if they have more trips than pilots (or if they don't have any bucket 1 pilots with 3 days of availability), they will go to bucket 2, then bucket 3, then bucket 4. THEN if they still haven't found a pilot, they will start using the 4-day pilots from bucket 1, then...

The Scheduling Reference Handbook, page 64 has a pretty good description.

RAW score within a bucket means nothing.

I’ve found the answer I was looking for. Your raw score bucket is driven by your raw score. Domestic fleets a raw score of 0-80 is bucket 1, 81-129 is bucket 2, 130-163 is bucket 3 and 163+ is bucket 4. So, assuming everyone with 1 day of availability is under a raw score of 80, everyone is in bucket 1 and then it goes inverse seniority order.

Correct. RAW score within a grouping is irrelevant, it just determines which grouping you’re in. RUO is Inverse seniority order within that grouping.

Next question. What happens if you end up flying into a golden day as a result of WX delays?

If you’re due reroute pay you’ll get it, but that is independent of the X-day being a Golden Day. There is no compensation for flying into a Golden Day.
