Oh, that explains it. Our most traumatic event in AF UPT was the day a new butler served us lukewarm tea and stale crumpets.

That was a tragic day! I still shudder when I recall it.

Well of course it happened when the Marines got their wings!! They couldn’t figure out how the little clips attached to the back of the pins, so they reverted to the “caveman” technique of attachment!...

My dad pinned my wings on and he did it to me. I was the only one in my class who got “blood wings”. My dad was a Nam vet and apparently it was a big deal back then.

I got blood winged in 2003 by my ex wife. I think she was just getting an early start on trying to kill me!

Just flew with one of the FA's who, according to her, was one of the first to start having issues. She detailed some of the problems she faced when initially dealing with inflight managers. She said that even now she can tell if she's standing too close to another FA wearing the uniform that her body starts to react.

Is it some kind of chemical in the dye or is it something else?

From what I heard, it is a chemical in either the dye or whatever they do to make it "wrinkle free." Most FA I talk to say it's the most pronounced in the purple dress.

I think it's the dye but we didn't really get into that part of it before boarding started.
