What does the MEC have to do with this?

I have been arguing to do away with the trigger since 2012 negotiations. If you are called in on a day you are not supposed to work, it should be premium pay. There's no need to complicate this with additional coverage steps and verbiage.

I totally agree. I just don't think it'll happen.

My hunch is green slips effectively pay out at less than 150%. Snapping them all to 200% would be an expensive change.

If that were to happen, I'm fairly certain I'd lose all ability to drop my schedule...I'd rather have the ability to drop.

Maybe so. But that would only be because they intentionally put themselves in the crisis situation by delaying adequate hiring until intentionally past the breaking point. Failure to plan indeed constitutes an emergency on our part.

GSs mean lack of staffing. Lack of staffing means no ability to drop trips and adjust schedule. Lack of staffing means high ALVs. High “optimized” ALVs means guys are working harder and getting fatigued. Lack of staffing means reroutes to cover flying that would normally be covered by a reserve. I can keep going but I certainly hope you get the point.

We took a huge hit in QoL this summer. So instead of asking why is the union waging a war against green slips, maybe we should be asking why you and the company are waging a war against our QoL?
Thank you. I couldn’t have said it better. If guys want to fly on their days off, all the power to them, but when I can’t swap a trip in mid October because it’s one day different, because reserves available isn’t adequate, somethin’ ain’t right, as they say in Kentucky.

This sounds fake. Reroute protections for reserve are identical to line holders. And if they were routed an additional 4 days, they would get a big pay day. My guess is they ended the trip and gave him a 4 day right after during on-call.

They couldn't have done that. He would have had PB days from the greenslip he just flew covering his next on call days.
