Nice to see 89 hour lines and unstacking into every weekend in February.

I got a coverage award every single weekend in Feb. Crazy times!

...and the company wants to EXPAND their ability to use coverage. It's already bad enough, especially for reserves.

So, just as you would never include any future Pension (when we had one), current 401k, medical benefits, non-rev benefits, or company discount, etc. in your "Pay", PS IS NOT PAY. No mortgage company I've ever heard of will allow you to include any of those as part of your "pay". I absolutely chafe at the company line that our "total compensation" includes PS, much less a plus-up of our hourly rate to somehow include PS. Management would LOVE to include PS as compensation at the table. Pay rates are pay rates, period (if you want to include Intl override & per diem, fine). PS is a negotiated benefit. (and one that the rest of the company employees can thank the pilot work group for).

/end rant

We don't help our case by automating PS inclusion into our online DALPA pay calculator tools.

new normal?

I think its about to get ugly. Glad the company is asking for a mediator. I subscribe to the idea that the mediator ask sounds like they want to move and dont want it to drag on. But dont trust what's on the table from alpa as being what the pilots want. So maybe things will get corrected on our side and the mediator will slap the company on 1E sooner than later.

I see it as them wanting to not negotiate in good faith till the end of summer. While still acting like they care about us, so we keep their grand ambitions running this summer. If they wanted things done quickly they would have at least responded to the unions proposals for every section. Since they havent even responded to every section they are stalling because, in my opinion if their counter offers got out into the wild the operation would be more of disaster than it is already going to be.

No doubt, though since ALPA gets their cut, I’m sure they see it differently.

Good point. Perhaps a motion is in order to have dues displayed in the same calculator?

Or simply understand that currently alap takes $20 ish (yes I know it's really 18.50 but for math it's easy at 20) from every 1k. That take wont change untill United starts making good $ off of PS. Then with their help we can get national to get rid of that stupid provision. My simple math of 25k x 14000 of us says apla gets 6.5 million from us in dues in one day. That's a lot of booze...
