Anybody gone from 330b to 320a? Are they as similar as they look?

When you stop using the term "speed window", we'll know your catching on.

Embrace the tray table.

Take a hard look at go-around scenarios to include intermediate altitude ones....they can get real exciting based on what you do with the power levers. If you are the studying type, look around for other sources of info...particulaly a Thales manual. The Vol 2 is kind of a mess. Training is a little teach yourself but the instructors are great and willing to help where needed. I've been in the 320 for a little less than 5 years now and have very much enjoyed it.

As a former Check Airmen on the 330, a few observations while doing IOE/TOE.

1. It is not a Boeing. I got so tired of hearing “But the Boeing did it this way”

2. , It will not start down at TOD unless you tell it to.

3., When you push a knob, the airplane is in control. When you pull a knob, you have control.

4. In Managed descent, it tends to honor airspeed more then the path. Not good at doing both.

5. It is a very clean Airplane. It will not slow down and come down at the same time.

6. Speedbrakes are your friend. Don’t be afraid to use them. It doesn’t mean you screwed up.

7. Fly it like what it is : An Airplane! Cross Wind landings are no big deal if you remember that

8. Learn the auto throttle system inside and out. That is usually what get guys in trouble

It is a great Airplane. The only thing I miss in Retirement is not being able to fly it.
Have fun and enjoy.

Yes. The 320 to 330 transition is a little easier though. When everything works right, you will see very little difference between the two. FMS and FCU are almost identical, so are autopilot modes. Systems are different of course, but not enough to make their operation to be terribly different. The 320 is a little tougher when things start to malfunction though, more workload-heavy. That’s when you’ll miss the 330. And your landings on the 320 won’t be as nice! Good luck and have fun.

You beat me to it! A LCA that thinks the Airbus has “auto throttles”?? 🙄🙄

At least he didn’t mention v-nav or l-nav...
