Of course JMHO....and those topics are airline related...again JMHO

The politics thread was apparently not political enough and focused on company business. That’s why it was locked. Next time keep the politics at the forefront.

Why do people think this is possible? How does a 65 year old go to the grocery store safely? How does a 50 year old at risk teacher go to school? How does a young low risk nurse at a senior citizens home avoid interacting with the residents? You cannot identify all vulnerable people and completely isolate them from society. The only way to slow the spread and minimize deaths is to reduce human interaction as much as possible. Allowing low risk individuals to go about their lives as if COVID isn't a thing will just make it spread faster which WILL cause the high risk people to catch it.

It is a matter of amount of exposure, risk, protective equipment, etc. Those over 65 go to the grocery store and wear masks. They do not go to movie theaters, crowded events, stay in as much as possible. The younger, low risk crowd go about their life with a few precautions.

How do younger doctors and nurses protect elderly who come to the doctors offices? PPE, temperature checks, hand washing.

He made mention of giving space, high volume airflow in airliners, and that wearing masks helps. He said dont go into bars or crowded areas. If I had more time I would have liked to hear his thoughts on Delta's spacing and caps and how effective our method is.

I think if the airlines and particularly Delta in our case were a real covid vector the media would have been all over that like stink on crap, but they haven't. Which leads me to believe something about the airlines is working. Or possibly a combination of some things (plural on "things").

And yes I think we generally need to get on with life if we are young and healthy. The second third and fourth order consequences are too great.

.

With contact tracing data coming in for the past 6 months, it's becoming clear that Covid(with the exception of healthcare facilities) isn't being contracted outside of restaurants, and possibly bars. As far as airlines, not a single US carrier has had a confirmed outbreak event, and less than 5 possible singular transmissions for all the millions we have transported during this pandemic, and the 10's of thousand of contact traces of passengers. People can safely travel on flights, the airlines need to get the word out, as well as the government/cdc.

The whole “flattening the curve” was never going to prevent people from getting the virus. It was meant to spread that out over time. Look at the chart. As the vertical line is flattened the horizontal line is spread out over a longer period of time. Sweden allowed the virus to do what it was inevitably going to do and they are open with no masks and some social distancing.

The US seems to have totally failed to understand that people are going to get the virus no matter what. This lack of understanding causes panic and a totally irrational response by our leaders when a state reports for example 700 cases and 3 deaths in one day. People for some reason had this expectation that since we locked down the virus would go away. They are totally surprised when the lockdowns end and people get the virus. It’s so comical (in a sad way).

This is why effective therapeutics that can abort critical reaction to the virus are a winning solution.

Even when a vaccine arrives there are still gonna be infections as its not likely to be 100% effective. Specially in the unvaccinated. Lol.

The potus case may have provided data on at least one or maybe a few that will be effective in combination.

Very true. Just be careful what you text at 2 am, potential side effects.

Science has yet to develop vaccine for foot in mouth disease. Which can strike at any time of day...or night. 😆
