I know you think every news article not Fox or Newsmax is fake, so I easily found an article to fit your political leaning.

They've been evaluating the pandemic response since the beginning. I even heard Fauci say in the fall that complete shutdowns were overly blunt and probably shouldn't have happened. There will be a huge wave of studies done over the next 5 years that will evaluate all countries and responses

The old joke about the Finish also applies to the Swedes

Q: "How do you tell an introverted Swede from an extroverted Swede"?

A: "An introverted Swede looks at the floor when greeting you, an extroverted Swede looks at your shoes".

Comparing Swedish Covid numbers, distancing, mask policies, etc to US is beyond pointless. A huge number of their population lives alone, for one; their national PISA scores are quite high, and about a billion other variables. How/why anyone would compare the Sweden and US numbers about the efficacy of covid responses is beyond me.

May as well ask the question "What about Africa?" The WHO was predicting an absolute disaster there a year ago, and they seem to have done pretty well. Maybe we should have followed the African response? (Stupid, for much the same reasons).

I didn’t bring up Sweden, phins did, then proceeded to lie about it.

and the natural social distance of the Swedish culture probably makes their comparative numbers with other nations worse, not better

I would love to see a Freakonomics-like book on this, comparing state-to-state policies and effectiveness, and comparing countries as well, like in previous books. However, I would suspect that no authors today would be willing to set forth their analysis, lest they become the target of the cancel culture; and good luck finding a publisher willing to publish anything that might go against anything perceived to be acceptable.

Can you imagine the outrage should anything "controversial" be revealed? The publisher would be decimated by the traditional and social media, and the authors and families thereof would be subject to verbal and possibly physical attacks.

The other Nordic countries, especially Finland, take way better care of the health of their citizens, it was always going to be Sweden being a disaster.

You live there?

I believe in one of his posts from back in May or something he intimated he had family in Sweden.

Doing a quick search I found this:
https://inproportion2.talkigy.com/sweden_uk20jun.html

It compares Sweden to UK. They track very similarly. The exception being the draconian lockdowns the Brits exacted on their populace vice the Swedes keeping it open.

IDK. But I think lockdowns and all the other BS really hurt us in ways we won't see for years as they take time to manifest in the psyche of the population. Especially the kids.

As far as someone writing accurately about this historically. 2 words - cancel culture. The author(s) would be the nail. The propaganda ministries would hammer them. No way a fair accounting of this debacle ever comes to fruition.

Cancel culture is the same on both sides of the aisle. It's better if we just ignore them. Anyone remember the outrage over the Dixie Chicks?

Show me where it's the same.

One is economic based. That's your example. They changed their name - they wanted to do it. CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, twitter verse, tik tok land, insta- propaganda,Facebook, the late nights didn't shame them to doing it.

We can vote with our $$$. But when a coordinated systematic effort to absolutely positively crush differing opinions that does not comport with a narrative - that is the cancel culture to which I speak.

Please mind the difference.

That isn't even remotely what I'm talking about. Were you not alive for this? It was the biggest news of the year. And the crazy thing is, they were right.
