Rumor alert
I have heard this rumor from 2 captains recently.......don’t shoot the messenger.
Apparently our new MEC chairman, in conjunction with the ATL reps, is planning to drop all scope grievances in a show of goodwill to the company as we head into negotiations as the pandemic comes under control and travel begins to return. |
If that is true, they will be recalled immediately. The uproar will be furious.

Yeah, I'd throw that in the "bull******* until/unless it happens, then there will be hell to pay" category.

Having said that, if they forgive those grievances, that represent willful attempts to completely disregard our scope clause, that a judge has ruled in our favor, I will be very disappointed. That might be enough of a reason to get rid of ALPA and bring in the DPA. I don’t think most of us will receive much money. It will probably go to a few pilots who could have been in a widebody position, but it’s the principal of the whole thing. This will be very disappointing. After reading the post above, I could see them dropping the grievances, in exchange for more favorable scope language. But it would need to be really good. |

This doesn't even pass the smell test. It would be a direct contradiction of his welcome email. And, ATL reps alone don't dictate policy. They would need several other councils to make it stick.
Tip to would-be rumor spreaders and false flag planters: If you are going to concoct some rumors, have at least some basis in reality in how things actually work. |
