Gloopy I see your point, and I absolutely agree that pilots need to be protected from themselves in the CBA. In this case, we would need to see the data and then decide if the hit to GS's would outweigh the gain of flexibility. If GS's are too affected, a middle ground is to allow PB days to drop negative days if they otherwise would have been on negative days. Or, we negotiate it as a pure gain and allow all PB days to drop negative days.

Point being, the current system can be improved without going backwards in work rules.

That could work. However it would be pretty hard to keep track of multipile tiers of PB days in the first option, so the second option would really be the only feasible one and I don't see the company going for it. At least without some kind of quid which would be a deal killer.

Sure, however we have to be very careful of unintended consequences. The current PB system is one of the best deals going, not only for most individual pilots most of the time, but for the group over all most of the time. Messing with it now would be a high risk:nominal reward proposition.

That doesn't mean that it can't be done, but we have so many things on our plate already, with more on the way when full Section 6 opens back up, that it may not be worth even trying to reopen something that's already one of the best things we have.
