Default How to get payback days

I’ve read the contract 23.S.9-12 and I’m still not 100% sure of all the ways to get a PB day.
It looks like only reserve pilots:
-who fly a GS or IA over an X day.
-who is rerouted into or otherwise extended into an X day.
Or a regular pilot who flies a trip into a reserve month over an X day, right?
Are there any others?

Once you earn a PB day and scheduling drops it on your next long call day, will they allow you to pick it up and bank it? Or do you have to time it to win you don’t have any more on call days that month?

Youll only get the PB day if you don’t have anymore on call days left. Make sure they add the time after block-in before starting the PB day. That could bet you a PB in your bank because they can’t bank partial PBs.

Anytime you fly a GS/IA etc on reserve you get a PB day/s. It’s is just added to your schedule on the next long call day/s.....it is still a PB day. As you said, one will only receive PB bank days if you will not have anymore on call days left in the month.

To the OP, only crew scheduling can put PB days in your PB day bank.

Thanks. Typed it out too fast and not clear enough.

So currently, if you get a PB day with days left of res. They will put them on a res day. If you have no days left, it will go into a PB day bank. I think it would be nice to have an option to put PB days in bank regardless if we have days left of res. That way you can build them up. Good idea? Yes or no?

I think it should default to going into the bank.

It's an outstanding idea, I'd love to have that option as well. It can be a double edged sword in categories that don't have coverage which can make them nearly useless, other than going to vacation the following year.

I’ve gone though entire years where I’ve never had the coverage to use a banked PB day, much less find a day with coverage that had a high time day trip to pick up/drop. Also what makes reserve GS so appealing to many is that you can get the premium pay and not end up working any extra because of the PB days. A pilot choice to roll or bank would be great.

Being able to bank any PB day/s would be a great option. But, IMO, it would be a VERY a expensive option for the company and would be costly for pilots to negotiate.
