Had a friend miss the last flight of the night home. Saw him waiting at the gate for last flight of the night to Europe. "What are you doing here? A little vacay?" I ask. Nope. First class was wide open, cheaper than a hotel and the food is better. Buddy was gonna spend about 90 mins on the ground in Europe and turn right around come back on the first flight of the morning to commute home.

Dear TNT,

Thank you for playing "The Hunt for Red October" twice a day (minimum) from 1995-Present.

While some thought that "Top Gun" would forever remain the most quoted "pilot movie" ever, your visionary efforts of non-stop re-showing of this gem in hotel tv's with limited cable options has managed to place the earworm script into those of us who spend way too much time channel surfing in strange areas of the US at all hours.

(BTW, the BEST Sean Connery line was from "The Rock". Which I can't repeat here. But it involved winning, losing, and a prom queen. Authenticity, and the truth which ain't always pretty, rings through)

I never did Europe, but as a regional FO I did JFK-LAX round trip to avoid a hotel.

There was a mechanic at Delta many years ago who would get on an airplane on Friday after work and just start flying continuously, eating (when they had meals on most flights) and sleeping until he had to go back to work on Monday morning.

You have a scientific study of that? I think as many people die when they stop working as the other way around. If you truly enjoy what you are doing, that is not necessarily a bad thing.
