including September we have only hired a little over 200 in the past 4 months. Assuming he is including all 2021 hires in that calculation, we would have to hire ~1600 more pilots in 9 or so months. I genuinely don’t think our pipeline can do that

They claimed they've hired around 300 this year. Even still, assuming 200 a month for January through June and the 200ish they've already hired, that would mean they'd have to get about 400 in class over the last 3 months of 2021 or a little over 130 per month. We've got some new sims coming and they are aggressively hiring SLIs and LCP/LVPs. Not to mention that they've looking everywhere for available sim time as well. I wouldn't bet my house on it either, but it might be possible. I think 1500 is believable.

widgetsenority shows 149 pilots hired in June/July/August with another 71 hired in September based on adding up the class drops; so 220 total by that math. I think if we have another 1,000 above that by the end of June that would be great. If we can get another 1580 as they claim I’d be more than a little surprised TBH. Lots of variables like you said, I just think it’s possible but not probable. I’d love to be wrong

Uh oh, you must be a joy to fly with.

Is that realistic though?

No airline has hired more than 12xx in a 12 month period. Not saying impossible, but unless you increase instructors, simulators, and check pilots; ain’t happening.

The NB fleets can't cover the current training requirements without SLIs picking up an egregious amount of extra events...and, even then, events are getting cancelled. Things are going to get "interesting" in the next 6-8 months.

Any August CJO’s still waiting for a class date?

TorqueWrench 09-21-2021 03:38 PM

How far out from CJO to sitting in Indoc?

Thats what I’m trying to figure out. Seems like it varies based on background check/PRIA, but I’m 8/24 CJO and haven’t heard anything at all…
