Lots of good advice. Big things for me are to try and get some sleep on the plane on the way over, even a short nap is good. Also the short 2-4 hour nap when you get to the hotel. I take a little different approach to the rest of the layover. A lot of the layovers I don’t wait and go to the bar at night. I’ll get up from the nap maybe get a quick workout in and then go out for a walk, maybe a museum, or a bike ride in AMS. If I don’t have big plans I’ll make it back in time to meet the crew for dinner. Sometimes I just go solo for the day.
The big thing for me is to do something on the layover. I find I sleep better if I have been out and busy during the layover day.

PS you’re just about to the stage where twins are easier than a singleton because they entertain each other.

Who are all these people having more kids after twins! I had twins (after we already had a 3 year old) and man.. that was enough. They wiped us out!

If you can handle twins, sleeping on an international layover will be cake. I won't repeat the sleeping tips here, they worked well for me too. I always had time after waking up to go out and explore, see a museum, go to the beach (BCN), buy the wife some chocolates, whatever. If you're into taking pictures, you're all set - most all of our European destinations have downtown layovers, with plenty of photogenic sites nearby. And waking up around 2-3pm gives you plenty of time to get photos as the light gets great and the shadows lengthen.

I second this. I’m kind of a gym rat, if I don’t get a work out in or at least a long walk sightseeing, I don’t sleep as well. And I’ve always been able to meet up with other crew members, especially during the summer.

I always slept for 3 to 4 hours on arrival. I also made a point of always getting out. I do not sleep well on the aircraft. The one thing to keep in mind is layovers in Europe can be vastly different based on time zone and pickup times. A 6:30 AM pickup in AMS requires a different strategy than a 12:30 pm pickup. The later is a cakewalk as your sleeping in your body cycle. One thing I always tried to do was stay up until 9 hours prior to the wakeup call. It really helped be avoid the dreaded 3am waking up and then can’t get back to sleep.
I often bid back to back 3 days for commuting purposes and I would put the late Europe departures as the first trip and a earlier departure as the back end trip to make getting home easier.

Looks like some 48 hour layovers mixed in based on the schedules. One can dream...

talk about trips that’ll go senior. Someone might get lucky and have a TOE on it as I’m sure the LCAs will be all over those rotations.

I dunno - doesn't look so nice... two pictures from a trip I took there two years ago. This was further up the coast from Dubrovnik.

What aircraft is going to be flying it? I’m guessing ER until the route catches on. Are we still doing seasonal ( or will we once COVID is in the rear view mirror) sevice to ARN, CPH, TXL, and the like?
