Proves the point. BMI calculus doesn’t even include toe length.

Maybe but have to agree with 007 here - BMI is terrible. Super fit bodybuilders can flag as obese and skinny people with a lot of visceral fat are not flagged at all. It may take 30 or 40 lbs of subcutaneous fat to have negative affects on an otherwise healthy person but as little as 5-6 lbs of visceral fat on a skinny person can be a lot more detrimental, Even worse as little as 1 lb of fat in the liver can be very, very bad. With all the crap young kids are eating these days we are starting to see children with fatty liver disease today. Previously this was mostly confined to alcoholics and was just called Fatty Liver Disease but now with kids getting affected it is called Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

Conversely there are some very thick folks out there who are "protected" health wise even though if you looked at them you would think they were in serious trouble.

Bottom line - IRT to health the fatter someone is generally the more health issues they will have but some skinny looking people are just as unhealthy.

PSA - anyone over 50 or over 40 with a family history of cardiovascular disease should get a simple calcium score test. Very cheap and available at most labs. It can be a very effective early warning that you need to change your lifestyle.

I've been using the ResMed's AirMini Ultimate Travel CPAP package with AirFit P10 Nasal Pillow Mask for a long time. It is really good and comparatively affordable. You can buy it online.

Has anyone had good luck or tried to find after-market cpap bags? I feel the ones that come with it aren't very travel friendly?

Question CPAP insomnia

Hi, Thanks for the great info. I wonder, since the wearing of the mask seems to keep me awake, has anyone had this problem after starting a CPAP, and been able to fix it without being medicated?
More thanks.

Took a couple weeks to get used to it, figure out the happy medium between mask tight enough that it doesn't leak bad, but not so tight it looks like a facehugger from Aliens had its way with me.

I have the same problem and eventually switched to the nose pillows which I thought would be worse, I've found them to be far more comfortable. I keep the humidification up high and I no longer even know I'm wearing it. Probably not for everyone but it might be worth looking into if you cant overcome the mask feeling. My wife found it hilarious for a week or two but she continues to let me sleep in the same bed, so there's that. Good luck with it and once you get into the right groove you'll remember how nice it is to get good, uninterrupted deep sleep.
