So we get 0 credit on a 24+ hour layover? So if we fly 2:30 during a two day trip we get paid 2:30?
I know I took the wind out of your sails with the preemptive ‘what are you willing to give up for that’ disclaimer but you’re arguing semantics. We have an ADG with min day protections built in. We don’t have crew meals. I know which one I would choose during bankruptcy. |
Further, the ADG didn't show up until 2014.

No, there are not. You are conflating “ADG” with “minimum day”. They are not the same.

It’s simple - delay the flight until you’ve had a chance to eat. I did that twice last month and never heard a peep about it.

Been there, done that. Just completely unnecessary and avoidable.
agree it is avoidable, but the company does not seem eager to avoid it. if they would rather delay a flight than cater 2 meals then that’s what it is. |

I hate to burst your bubble but we dont have a min day, just an ADG (and duty credit), layovers pay zip, nada, zero credit. Ask me how I know? I fly trips all the time with a 28hr layover with 20:58 block, they pay 21hrs... I hate being used and abused just so they don't have to pay me for the long layover. 😒

Sailing knows the facts. He just tends to be a contrarian and posts against the majority, usually presenting a company-centric POV. That is fine and we need guys like that. He usually has very good information to add to the discussion. UAL blows us away is some aspects of their PWA and we blow them away in other areas. No airline is best at everything. We at DAL are pretty close to the top overall with a few notable exceptions: Vacation as you pointed out is terrible and industry lagging. Our 12 month put your life on hold AE system is probably the worst in the system. 5 1/2 hours block minimum for a crew meal is absurd and can routinely result in 7 + hours without food. Our DH policy pretty much sucks. Plenty of others. Then again we beat UAL in some areas. Don't have time to list them but you guys know where we rock. Merry Christmas All! Scoop |
I’m ok being wrong on this, but a 4 day trip that blocked 6 hours you would still get 21 hours pay for it, right? Effectively you have a 5:15 min day in this scenario, regardless of what we choose to call it. I’m fully aware the ADG system takes time from a high block day and pays it to a low block day to average it out over the trip (and I don’t like it either) but to say we have no minimum day is disingenuous. At the end of the trip we will not be paid less than 5:15/day, minimum, regardless of where it comes from - other days on the trip where we blocked more than 5:15, or credit for amount under 5:15.
If this is not how it works someone please explain it to me, or if someone can demonstrate how a trip can pay less than 5:15/day average I’m happy to learn. |
