Usually they are 3 legs so the regular whiteslippers don't pick them up..Too hard..Most of the other pilots are waiting for greenslips and don't want to whiteslip a 1 day trip.

A lot of the pre planned sports charters are built into pairing for bidding the previous month. Usually only the last minute ones go into open time. If the pairing starts with 0### it is most likely a post bid built charter.

This. You'll have 2 hour flight scheduled to leave at 10pm leave at 2am sometimes. It's just not worth the aggravation if you can avoid it.

Any trip with a 0### is going to be a scheduling-built (or split) trip whether or not it contains a charter.

Yes I’m aware however this whole thread is about charters so i just figured it was implied i was speaking about charters in open time. Thanks for the snarky input nonetheless.

Wasn’t really meant to be snarky, but ok. We have a lot of new people who may not be up on the nuances of open time and what you originally wrote could be misunderstood by someone who doesn’t know better.

If you're a slave to "on time" or are worried about catching the last ride home after a charter, then I could agree with you. There can be some headaches, sure. But if you are willing to let go, view the schedule as a loose, flexible framework and understand that the schedule is driven by the customer, not Delta Air Lines, then you can open yourself up to some really interesting, rewarding (dare I say fun!?) flying. At the very least, charters can be a nice change of pace.

I've done more than a few.....interesting maybe, rewarding possibly, but not one charter has ever approached the "fun" status. Perhaps I'm not so lucky....

You're usually the biggest plane on the FBO ramp. That has to count for something. Lol.

Idk, my last charter was "fun." But that's because it was actually on time, it was an empty ferry leg, we got home way early and it was GS day trip lol.

Lol, one time the FBO parked us in such a position that it blocked in over 10 corporate jets. Man, those pilots were pretty upset about that, and they acted as if it was our fault for where the FBO decided to park us.
