Don’t feel like it is a good enough reason. It’s nice to be captain sometimes.

 

So it's nice to not be a team player or cooperate to graduate or doing what we can do to make the job of people around you as easy and pleasant as possible. That puts you into a category of "one of those guys" whether you like that categorization or not

There are plenty of Delta traditions that frankly SHOULD fade away. This is one of them.

When it’s the FO’s leg, I do the walk around — every time. The posted turn time doesn’t change how I do my job one bit. If we make D0, it’s purely coincidental.

I guess you haven't been an FO for awhile? There is a stereotype, and it fits most captains who don't do walk arounds. Just look at the posts by people in this thread who don't do them.

 

Well I've read thru the posts after I asked for a clear cogent fact based statement on/about captains that don't do the walk around that wasn't simply based on it hurt ones feelings.

Pretty much a total let down. It's apparent that those few of you that post on SM whether here the book of faces or elsewhere are just hurt feelings.

The best captains I've ever had the pleasure of flying with never did walk arounds. It didn't degrade their leadership, skill, CRM or how they ran the flight deck.

Again it's pretty comical a few of you all here are so wrapped around the axle about it.

So what if the captain doesn't do a walk around? It really matters not. Just because you "feel" that makes them sort of megalomaniac dictatorial person (which if they truly were they would not be here) does not make it the case.

Now if they are PM and don't do the PM flight deck duties, that IS an issue. But not getting the walk around? That's just silly.

Move on. Smile be nice be professional do your job go home collect check.

 

There is also stereotype for FOs who expect captains to do the walkaround.
