So basically you do you mentality. Love it. If it’s that’s simple why are you so wrapped around the axle about it?
I’m not going to count the number of replies you’ve made about this but it’s a lot. Why are you so hung up on anyone owning anything?
You come across as very judgmental. Lots of name calling, pigeon holing etc. That really goes against your other posts on other topics where you espouse tolerance, acceptance, non judgmental attitudes etc.
Maybe you need to own that you’re being hypocritical and cherry picking when it comes to that.

You can have all the opinions you like. However, the historical facts are not up for debate. I'm not your pal, I'm your captain, like it or not. If you don't like this retirement job, Walmart always needs greeters.

Yup on my 4th fleet here (MD-88, 7ER, 320 and now 330), the narrowbody fleets about 80-90% of PM would do the walkaround while some “old school” captains would never do the walkaround. I’m about to go back to 320A and YES I will do the walkaround when I’m PM in all conditions haha I’m not scared of the rain, cold or snow. I live in Michigan haha
(We jokingly decide there is no way Delta is going to believe that a 88 CA did the walk around on a sub freezing, icy morning and decide we better say he fell in the terminal).

I waited almost a decade to upgrade after I first could have. I don’t look down on first officers. I was always taught walk around is the first officers job. If the captain does some, then it’s a bonus, not the expectation.
FWIW, the manual has changed. It used to say it was the FO’s job like at every other company.

Don’t care. We’re colleagues, not friends. As long as they are professional, no issues.

Some of it may be generational/traditional in that more seasoned pilots may have started out and the engineer in which you did every walk around, for years on every leg. Then you finally upgrade to FO and enjoy your quick, simple preflights. It was often said that the FO job on the 727 was one of the easiest in the fleet. Also if you do WB with a relief, many companies use relief lines whereby you are the Relief Pilot every leg and again, back to the walk around.
