So who gets to decide whom is "abusing" sick leave?
I can tell you right now, if you let the company decide, you won't like the answer. Because they are looking for new "big data" ways to find "abusers" all the time.
Get sick right before or after vacation? You're an "abuser." Get sick after getting assigned a rotation or short call two days ahead of your actual report? "Abuser."
And God forbid you get sick on the same week next year that you called in this year. "Abuser!"
It's absolutely pathetic that we've got folks here who claim there are "abusers..." but offer zero proof, zero definition, and display zero hint of a unionsist mindset. In a previous life, we used to call guys like this "buddy ****ers."

Good job of defining what the company might consider abuse, thus requiring a GFB call/note (possibly)
But, let's not talk about hypotheticals regarding the company. Let's get YOUR definition/example of what abuse might be.
What would constitute "abuse" in your opinion? Any hypothetical scenarios that you could call "abuse" or could possibly be a basis for a GFB call/note?

Do you assert such a person doesn't exist? Does asserting that this person exists make one a buddy ****er?

I call them like I see them, and am willing to call a spade a spade. "Unionism" is not a limitless licence to do whatever the eff you want and expect your fellow pilots to wear, without complaint, the 'diapers' caused by others crapping thier pants. In a prevous life, someone like that would get a "blanket party".
The irony is, the true Blue Falcon is the rare pilot blatantly cheating the system for all it's worth.

Not sure, but I have my buddy's use their own credit card personally.

Bingo. How many people have caught a cold a couple days after flying with someone who should have called out sick? Sometimes, a cold just happens, of course. But let's not pretend that this situation doesn't ever happen, nor that it's not influenced by the company's heavy-handed response.

Not to interrupt sick leave discussion, but small Deltanet rant...
This morning I see there is a '5 second' poll on your wishes for links to open in a new window or not. Cool, I'll take that. 'Click'
Wrong.
DLnet proceeds to do it's usual cumbersome process of parsing multiple urls then wants a PingID sign in for this '5 second' poll. Get bent.
