I bet you could apply somewhere that operates an ACJ350.

Maybe. But I'll never get why anyone would leave a good situation, do another tour of duty on Va Ave, likely lose some relative seniority, all to inherit a drastically smaller big pack/options, just for a small on paper percentage "raise" that the tax man gets half of anyway.

Unless the ex (or exes) took half your money, I can't fathom who would choose to do this for a living well into their golden years. Even worse, retiring captains that go become Sim instructors in VA Ave.

OK then. I have two questions for you. How old are you, and what will you do when you retire?

And fwiw, I could have easily retired at 50. I just happen to enjoy doing this.

Simple, they enjoy flying and have a passion for this career. You must have other passions. Hopefully you can make money off them. I've heard the "retirement life" ie sitting on the beach, golfing, traveling etc etc gets old after a few months

I love this career. Very happy to have made it. That said, I still enjoy my days off more than the days I work. I've mostly passed up on capitalizing on this GS bonanza, as I'd rather not work. So, when I'm older and grayer, unless something unforseen happens where I'm amongst the half of Americans with inadequate retirement savings, I'm out, baby! Preferably, before 60 even. 4+ decades of work is enough for me.
