Also don’t discount walking in lieu of going to the gym. Working out doesn’t always mean being physically in a gym. I try to walk at least 5 miles on layovers. It’s better than staying stagnant and saying, “well 24 hours isn’t enough for me to go to the gym.” It’s pretty easy to wonder around and get your steps in.

It's a personal choice. Some people don't value exercise as much as others. That's fine, just don't use a 24 hour overnight in Amsterdam as an excuse.

Blanket statements are rarely accurate. If working out is something you actually enjoy, then international flying won't hold you back. Just like working out at home, working out at work requires some planning and prioritization. I've had plenty of pilots try to criticize my workouts. I've come to realize it's because it makes them feel better because if I'm able to find time to go for a run or hit the gym and still make dinner plans, then that means they could to... if they wanted to.

Might be easier if you live in base, but with my commute, I’m staying domestic for my health and wellness.

I’ve worked out pretty intensely my entire life. Sure I was able to muster up an occasional international workout that was worth something, but rarely. That was in my 20s and 30s. More often than not, I was so tired that doing anything other than sleep was nearly impossible. Just my opinion, but my experience has been that international is too hard on my body long term.

I commuted to JFK for WB flying. My flights all got me there early enough to workout before the trip. It was great! And then occasionally on a 3 day I would work out at the hotel in Europe. On the 6 day “W” trips I would get a great workout on the US layover. I actually found WB flying more conducive to working out on the road than NB flying.
