I just checked the Internet.

This chart clearly shows cognitive decline really hits at 65 and beyond. All medical and cognitive testing should clearly be more scrutinized at age 65. 50 doesn’t make sense.

I've done it and would strongly disagree. Part 91 and 135 is the wild west. Plenty of the 65-plus crowd are skating by because aviation has a well-developed safety net.

As part of Medicare I have to take a "wellness test" anually. Consists of drawing a clock and putting a time plus 3 words given at the beginning to be repeated back at the end of the encounter. For the clock I just draw a rectangle put in numbers and tell them it's digital. I usually screw up the words. But some how I remember them for the next 3 weeks. The saving grace is you can get away with a lot of ******* that was a no no in younger years.

The interesting part is the ER draw down is around the corner like you said and according to the new 339s next year. However, aren’t the 767s gonna be around for the next decade? Maybe they plan on shifting the international ER flying to transcons/Florida as the 339s continue to come?

BS said in his last memo that the new 339s will be replaced the ER and we will be getting NINE more in 2024 so this could add a lot NYC330 positions over the next few months. I expect this next AE to see its first NYC330B opening since January! Crazy to think it’s been 8 months…

The January AE had 17 330 spots go unfilled in NY so the company was smart and could lightly sprinkle those positions through the new hire classes to reduce training. But it’s about time we get a steady 15 330B positions. In fact, someone asked BS on Facebook this question and he responded with “expect a steady 10 to 20 330 crews added each month.” That’s double to triple what we’ve been seeing so far with these monthly bids. The 339s are coming and the fact is we need bodies to fly those so simple math says get those 330 bids in cause it’s a coming sooner than later!

Side note, he mentioned the 350B is staffed well so don’t expect any new openings on that until next year! Just backfills.

There will be added international over the pacific as Tahiti begins and HNL-HND is actually selling tickets this time and at a pretty good pace. Probably will see more of this going to LAX crews, but could shift more HNL flying out to ATL/NYC again like this summer.

other thing to note now that I have noticed is LAX bid packets are doing a little bit of Europe still even through September with some of the Boston trips. I assume if HND actually comes back (either we do it or lose the slot now), we won’t be doing anymore Europe which will hand some back as well to NYC.

also - there will be some more augmented Hawaii with MSP/ATL-OGG beginning in the winter and so far both slated for the ER’s.

I wouldn’t expect those 339’s to make a huge dent in ER flying so soon. Not in this market of international flying where everywhere has growth opportunities. And they aren’t going to just keep ERs to fly to Florida either, not for those prices. If you look at some route news announced so far there hasn’t been a huge net loss for Atlantic 2024 flying on the ER. A couple I’ve seen, but some added to ATL and of course if HND slot returns those are slated for ER’s which is a daily year-round service.

Ahhh good point. There is a lot of growth planned with new international routes so this makes a lot of sense. Do you think the 339 is a different market than the 767?

I think we should see east coast crews do HNL-HND...it's only fair since LAX crews come to the east coast to do Europe, right?
