IVD can be used just like a PB day on reserve to get time off. 2 IVD are like 2 PB days used for reserve. Drop 1 reserve day in the middle of a on call block.
I think we went from 2 chances to use an IVD to 3 if this TA passes. 3 is not enough for how little we are crushing our chances of getting any PB days anymore.

My logic is closer to true because all people could be multi millionaires....not ALL pilots can bid reservere every month.
If the company staffed the airline right there would not be very many GS, therefore PB days to get. But let’s just fix the problem for them and let them setup blockers to prevent GS and PB days and they can continue to run the pilots lean.

I was on NB for over 10 years. I started using reserve PB bidding around 2012 on NB. It this does not pass. Once you can hold a category with sub par staffing it’s easy to do.
Sounds like it’s gone now.
PB days started from what I was told to make the company staff us correctly. If we are over staffed there are not GS and PB days. If they understaff us we get PB days that they don’t like. Let’s just fix the problem for them with setting blockers up to prevent GS. Concession

Not correct, we are NOT getting another IVD use. With only two IVD uses a year I’m not gonna do that and not be able to leave the country because they can still use you. Total waste. Again, we are talking about using banked payback days after a hard month of work to then work a minimal amount the next 3-4 months. And still no one can offer an explanation for how that works when there aren’t blue days.

You use ONE IVD on the lowest paying day to drop a 5+ day trip and then use your PB days to get paid for the other days of the trip. There you go. 5+ days off with pay and you can leave the country as you please.

Edit: or you bid two 5 day trips in a row with 1-2 days off between then and IVD the last day of the first trip through the first day of the second trip then use PB days to get paid and boom 10+ days off with pay.

I still think the effect to payback days is being overblown. The vast majority of greenslips are trips that come uncovered within 48 hours of report. They can't go out as silver slips. Silver slips and the 150% PBS trips seem more like a workaround to the company's desire to allow more unstacking. This is their way of covering trips over exceptional peaks like Thanksgiving and Christmas that they've had trouble with over the last few years. They'll inevitably reduce PB days to some extent, but I'd bet we're talking low single digits.

You can only do that twice though. The rolling thunder people were insinuating they do this all the months they don’t roll thunder.

A combination of that and using your APD for the same thing is like 30 days right there, plus dropping trips when there are actually blue days (rare in most categories, I know), or dropping trips via qualified open time etc...

Gotta be senior to get trips through PBS that people actually want. Crappy 4 and 5 day Q trips aren't being picked up by anyone. PB day usage is limited for junior people in a category that is black all month every month.
