I went through this recently with two new teen drivers. My goal was to provide them a car that would last through high school, college, and hopefully into their mid-20's, so they could get a good start on building savings without the worry of car maintenance or worse, having to immediately buy a new car. I involved them in the search so that they could feel that they had picked the car. I only gave them three criteria it had to meet. It had to be less than five years old, it had to have less than 50,000 miles, and it had to cost less than $15K. My daughter went with a 4-year old Toyota Camry, and my son went with a 4-year old Chevy Cruze, both purchased through CarMax. Used car prices have gone up some since then, and I think those same criteria now would be a little harder to meet for less than $15K.

15k for a first car?!?!?!? I just bought my daughter an 08 Civic with 190k miles and it hurt to hand the guy 4500. The car will easily go 275k, but I can do all the maintenance on it. My first car was 2k and it lasted me till my first regional. I've had more problems with newer cars than I've ever had with 10+ year old cars. Too many computers in the new ones.

Stop making me anxious. Lol. I’m kidding, but it sucks that we have to wait a whole month to see how much will be my regular pay stubs.

Can't tell if you are "LOL. I'm kidding" or are, "it sucks to have to wait a whole month...."
I have to believe it's all LOL, cause I can't even imagine this would be a pimple on the face of humanity that would cause any consternation. How does one survive the Christmas/birthday/anniversary season?
I see the new contract has broken APC calculator....the sliding scale doesn't go up high enough to reflect top end pay. I guess that's the definition of a good contract (pay wise) when the built the online calculator didn't envision pay rates exceeding their imagination

One friend in High School had one. Killed his girlfriend in a roll over.
New hire forgot something in his console. Put in the clutch, turned it off and took his key out to unlock the console. Yes, stupid. Flipped it. Now no longer a pilot.
Friend’s younger brother got a little off the shoulder and flipped his. Nearly died, in a coma, came out with brain damage. Now divorced and on disability.
My kid will be in the safest thing ever invented by man, a Tesla. Indian Dr. tried to kill his family in one by driving at high speed off a cliff in California. Everyone out with minor injuries and the jerk who tried to kill himself and his family is safely in jail. Can’t die in a Tesla, even if you try.

Because that happens all the time. You know what else catches fire? Gasoline.
We let toddlers walk around with lithium ion batteries, we plug them in next to us at night and fall asleep, we even have like 4-5 in every cockpit.
I get it that electric cars can catch fire. It’s not often that it happens, but it is possible. It’s just a funny argument when the alternative is literally the most flammable liquid you can buy.
