Exactly. Two different jacket types in the same crew will look ridiculous.

There are an awful lot of Caribbean and central American destinations on many of the domestic fleets. So I usually average 2-3 months max of jacket wear.
The point is, it's silly to make a stand that our uniform makes us stand out when it's worn less than 1/4 of the year. |

Fascinating discussion,
To me, the "brand" argument falls flat when you remember the majority of consumers would easily mistake us for a bell hop. You want brand image? Make sure your uniform fits (however many breasts), shine your shoes, look and act like a professional. I can tell you that I have a much easier time doing that in a modern single breasted jacket than a 1930s horse blanket. To each their own, I guess that's why they are giving us the option. |

Sorry, man. Just venting a bit.
Flew with a captain this week that not only didn’t wear a hat or blazer (flew with him before and no blazer), but also didn’t wear a tie. Complained he hadn’t gotten his second GS yet this month (it’s 3/11!). I specifically applied here because the employees made this a special place to be. Our customers noticed and that’s how we got to be the best compensated. After 9 years here, I’ve realized that’s all pretty much gone now. No one gives a ****. It’s all about them. Yeah, I’m a guy who still shines my shoes before I go to work. |
Bought a new suit recently for a wedding we were attending. Went to a very established (73 years) family mens store. Great service. While there I looked around. They didn’t have 1 double breasted jacket to offer. I inquired about this and got a funny look. Was told they haven’t sold them in years, but that they are popular amongst certain cultures here in the US.
I did notice one evening while watching the news that all of the lawyers representing the police officers implicated in the death of the young man in Memphis recently were all wearing double breasted jackets. Also Steve Harvey frequently wears one. So if you want to look like a lawyer or game show host you have the option. As for me I’ll be putting my order in for single breasted. |

I was asking you, and you answered. Thanks.
I’ve been doing this gig a few years and wouldn’t say I have the data to support being responded to better or worse than my buddies at UAL/SWA/AA/Endeavor/Skywest. I’m all about happy pax, but my hunch is a smile and an unfurowed brow go farther than a double-breasted jacket in achieving that end. Who knows. Personally, I run a little hot. I appreciate being able to vent a bit with an unbuttoned single breast jacket which isn’t a (fashionable) option with the DB. |

Sorry about that. I was uniform complaint and haven't gotten my hat memo yet. Did I miss it? The tie was a wardrobe malfunction. The clip broke. I did clean up my shoes after you mentioned it... on the escalator brush.

Um ,Endeavor is not an “outsource” . Skywest and Republic are outsourced. Endeavor was created and is owned by DELTA. Delta pays us, owns the 9E jets, owns us as pilots and every penny of 9E existence comes from Delta. However your point is exactly the whole scam of the “regional” to begin with , especially WO “regionals”. The customers are convinced to believe that they are flying “Delta” from every possible perspective, except for the tiny “Endeavor” painted on the front of the RJ’s so small that one needs a microscope to see it. As the former Delta MEC chief, Jason Ambrosi, put it: Bring all Endeavor RJ flying and employees over to mainline certificate pronto. Then we can wear all the same costumes . Over time they can ween off of Skywest and Republic. Because of Covid they have already had to spend 500 million on retention and 60 percent pay raises and it still isn’t working . Until they end the class warfare system of the WO “regional” model and outsourced regionals , your point is absolutely spot on as far as the tackiness of it all.
No, it was not created by DL, it was an independent regional which flew for NWA before it was acquired by DL during BK restructuring. EDV is outsourced feed like everybody else, difference being that DL gets to keep the profits as opposed to whatever characters run the independent regionals. |
