Travel sports is a bane. Always going somewhere, paying lots of $$ on that travel, kids never get a break, most end up with more injuries because of it or burnt out on it completely. You know, the opposite of the fact that sports are supposed to be fun.

Man, you gotta ditch that noob box and getcherself a legit gamer rig. One GS will set ya up. If you can’t build one, there are some pre-builts that are ok, but choose wisely.

Xboxes are like the Miatas of gaming….

...but the Nvidia GTX 1050 is fun at the LAN parties. The RTX 4090 takes all the fun away.

I don’t disagree with anything you guys are saying. My kids play travel sports. The main reason why I put up with it is because it keeps them really busy. So busy that they don’t have any time to get into trouble. No drinking, drugs, etc.

I agree, if I added up all the money I've spent over the last 5yrs on travel Vball for my daughter, I could have replicated the out of state D1 scholarship she recently committed to as a Junior in HS. That said, the work ethic, dedication, and competition she's experienced over the last few years has been a great life lesson and keeps her so buy there is no time for real HS level trouble which as a dad I support!
Also, this years Vball tournaments have been fun and super competitive which is payback for a few years of watching relatively less competitve vball matches.

It keeps dedicated kids off the interwebs and focus on something to train for. I agree most won't see a payback, but the alternative "activities" for a teenager are more distructive in general. Burn out could be a factor, but much of it depends on the attitude of the club and training regimen. Some will use this venue to go on to play in college, but most will reach a terminus along the way.
