Timecards
My third rotation this month and my timecard hasn’t been accurate yet. It’s Mickey Mouse stuff too. It says I was scheduled 21 and some change but instead they just give me 21. Are they even looking?

They need to start calling all the people they bought off for the VID and offer to double their salaries and come in part time to train and staff scheduling.

Is it showing closed? I see those kind of errors all the time when the trip goes sideways but it’s usually fixed by the time the trip shows closed.

I'm amazed that they haven't done this in not only scheduling but every department.

Should we do this for pilots too? A short requal and we could get some of the VEOP pilots back in the left seat.
Or is it good for thee, but not for me? "But......but.......but... I mean, uh.............let me rethink my suggestion" :) |

VEOP pilots are more than welcome to apply at any number of short staffed regional airlines or as a first officer at Delta as long as they aren't over 65.

I've heard that at least a few of our guys did exactly that, making bank at Envoy while cashing the VEOP checks from Delta. Kudos to them for working the system to their maximum advantage.

Someone want to check out P008, SEA, 14 Apr and discern why we’re getting an extra 07:00CR, please? TIA

It's not something I would do in my current situation, but you are talking bad about two people probably close to doubling their income overnight for 3 years. If they had kids and they were out of the house, they could both work weekends and see each other just as much as before but instead of making $500k, they are making close to a million a year. It would actually be foolish NOT to do that.

This isn't about being hard up for money. This is about taking an opportunity to double your income for a few years without any perceptible drop in QOL. Are you saying that's not something you would ever consider?

If you don't need weekends off, tell me how QOL changes if you all of a sudden have to work weekends vs getting weekends off. That's probably the largest change in QOL as a new hire. That and Holidays. It's a short term sacrifice for a substantial increase in pay. |

Many of our trips are actually better during the weekends. Some people's kids play sports primarily during the week. This is just proving the point that QOL is in the eye of the beholder. You may not be able to bid exactly what you want but if what you get is what you want and it comes with a substantial pay increase, there really isn't much of a QOL loss.
Anyway, he was telling me about the travel sports his kids play. Holy cow, it added up to a lot of money. Well into the five figures. Kids, I get it, spend everything on them, but heck, my parents weren’t broke, but all I got for sports was the $5 registration fee at the local little league field, and an admonishment to “just walk it off” when that damn ball nearly took me out. I’m going to step outside and shake my fist at some clouds now…. |

On a tangentially related subject (barely)….I was talking to my neighbor. Pretty much just an acquaintance, but we’re chatting over some beers, and I get the normal “do you ever work?” kind of comments, which is fine, and I roll with it and say “well, sometimes”.

Yes. Travel sports are a scam for 90% of the kids who play them. And I played extensive travel sports playing up. It's just gotten completely out of control..

I don’t disagree with anything you guys are saying. My kids play travel sports. The main reason why I put up with it is because it keeps them really busy. So busy that they don’t have any time to get into trouble. No drinking, drugs, etc.

She can have the weekends for her own sanity, since I’m not easy to live with sometimes. |

…cus it’s not for the kids who play them. The industry is set up for the for-profit club dues, facilities fees, jerseys, refreshments, etc. Anyone who thinks travel sports is designed to help the athlete is standing a little too close.

Also, this years Vball tournaments have been fun and super competitive which is payback for a few years of watching relatively less competitve vball matches. |
