DH’s galore

Looks like I’m going to need a couple new audio books for June. The 717 in ATL has gone from 30 hour layovers to at least 1 DH a day. In fact some trips have more DH legs than flying legs.
I get a 30 hour layover isn’t efficient but I don’t understand how taking up seats in a busy summer month is.

The good thing is, many of those DH are on the ultra-reliable regionals...what could go wrong? On the upside, I won't miss the 30 hour layovers and it will likely be a boon for those of us who prefer to fly the broken up, more efficient trips.

One revenue seat lost is nothing compared to being able to staff an entire flight (or two...or three...) that you otherwise wouldn't because pilots were hanging out in a Burg/Ville all day for airframe flow.

It’s cyclical though. The more things change the more they remain the same. I’ll thank my wife again for the Bose Noise cancelling headsets when I’m in that middle seat awaiting the contractual DH improvements.

They have cranked the optimizer up to 11 on every NB fleet. The June rotations are garbage.
A DH in the middle of a 4 leg 12 hour day doesn't mean pilots will take a nap and power through the day.
Fatigue calls are going to skyrocket. They really should have known better. A lack of staffing on their part is not an emergency on our part, we aren't robots, etc.

The 717 30 hour layovers were pretty fun. "Tour d'Villes", obviously. (KAVL was great, but I now understand the city has been SJW'd and DEI'd so much it's now super, super awesome. Yay/yay?).
Also rans like EVV (shower confusing as heck, and used more water than most 3rd worlders see in a month"), KLFT (Home of Tabasco Sauce, and a confusing AF taxi to the terminal "Prepare to copy taxi instructions") The occasional long layover in obscure Florida beaches. Really liked long overnighting in places you'd never visit, much less explore, unless you had family there or were on a Delta 30 hour layover.
Sorry to hear it's going away.

I'll second the Engage podcast. Episode 26. Very interesting stuff. They also refer back to the earlier episodes dealing with Fatigue, E4 I think.
