I'm at 38K on my 2020 Model S, and I've just started shopping for tires. I'm just above the wear indicators (slightly more tread "to go" to reach them). Previous vehicles, I'd generally see 40K-50K miles, usually more toward the latter end of that range, so I guess I'm a bit "early"--but nothing I consider concerning.

One thing that may be weight-related, or may just be bad luck on my part: I've had two separate tire punctures. Would I have taken that nail with a lighter vehicle? I have no way of knowing. Fortunately, both cases were patchable....
I don’t know anything about cars, except how to drive one around, but I’m getting new tires on my Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel on Friday. They have 72,000 miles on them. They “barely” passed state inspection, and with winter coming on I’d rather have new ones. Sounds like they would legally go a bit longer though.

Maybe the deep tread on my tires makes them last longer than on a Tesla? And I drive like an old lady, that’s probably part of it too.

The Tesla model S and most Tesla's for that matter have high performance soft tires. Each type of tire has a tread ware rating based on the performance types. 78,000 would be useless for me anyway as the tire would time out before I ran it out of tread. Just spent 2200 for 4 new tires on a BMW X5 at 28,000 miles. Expected a bit better there but there were several thousand miles towing a 5500lb boat.

Laughs/Cries in 225/70R19.5 x 6 tires... That's like $3k when my truck needs tires.

Haha I don't know about that. Tires are more expensive than I ever remember. Last year spent nearly $1k on tires for my Honda CRV.

Send me a link where you can get 4 run flat all season radials that fit a X5 for much less. The rears are 305's. There was one option at 1900 and they were back ordered for months. Tires by the way keep you alive. It amazes me how people will drive on the wrong tire type for conditions or tires that have timed out and or wore out without a second thought.
Even more amazing is they let there wives and children drive on those tires.

Can avoid run flats and EV tires with foam to save $$. The run flats are horrible tires.

Put a $12 flat repair kit and a cheap (but useful) air compressor in the Tesla in lieu of a spare tire. Haven't had to use the $12 flat repair kit for my own cars, but rescued two of my wife's friends who were driving around stupid SUVs with construction debris in tires. (The brunch crowd is thick with ((cough)) real estate agents)

One just bought this YUGE white suburban that she runs over everything with while trying to park. When I saw her **white Suburban** I asked if she affectionately named it "Karen."

... That's why I don't get invited to brunch.

Since we're talking about things to throw in the trunk and we're close to Chrustmas. These little things make a nice gift option for friends/family. I bought them for my parents, sisters/bro-in-laws a few years back and they'be been great. I've helped a handful of people in the employee lot with mine as well. For a little more change, they make them with aircompressors as well.

You just need to shop around. Last month, I got 4 new Goodyear tires for my wife’s SUV online at PriorityTire. You can have them shipped directly to an installer and book your appointment online to have them installed. All for 850. Would’ve cost me almost double going to a local place and buying from them.

Wait, you're amazed at people who drive on the wrong tire type, yet you use all-season tires? Maybe you don't get snow where you live.
