Yes you can, but even with the world's best coverage if you are using more than a handful of PB days you are going to run up against your own WS pickup limit. Remember that PB days earn pay and credit and count towards the WS pickup limit. Hence the need for the other pilot and the lack of a swap pickup limit.

Prove that it happened though. As so many on here are fond of saying, I have a life and scouring the swap board hourly isn't it. If I get a blind white slip at my seniority, you are dancing with jailbait.

It really depends on the length of the trip being churned for PB days. A high-block one day turn has a very high chance of getting snagged by a blind WS. Very few if any people have blind WS requests in for 3 day trips or longer.

if it happens on the first PCS run I try this on I’d say it was just poor luck with a senior blind WS. If it happens on the 3rd of 5th time of me consistently doing it I’m calling foul. (Not that it’s illegal or against the contract, it’s just a DB move)

also you are area code seniority and coming up on 33 years at DL. How TF do you come to your second conclusion.

Becoming legal for a trip you were previously illegal for can cause a WS that’s been getting denied to suddenly hit. For example, maybe your PD in the present or adjacent month finally goes through, unloading a previous 100/678 violation. Or perhaps you get bought off a trip and suddenly free up 21 hours of block time. Or your 4-day swaps to your targeted 1-day. Sure, someone can crash your party, but I’d be pretty careful about flaming a fellow pilot without understanding all of the circumstances. Personally, I don’t see myself manipulating previously-entered slips to make sure I don’t interfere with PB day laundry.

call me the new guy, cause I am, but why can’t we just have the PWA agree on an arbitrary high number that you can turn PBs in without playing reindeer games. Tie it to a category if you want NB:8hrs and WB:13hrs.

From a practical standpoint, that’s a good idea. However, the company capitalizes on the fact that plenty of pilots don’t use their payback days in the most efficient way possible. Their ask for something like that would probably be more than it’s worth.

They could just say GS on reserve off days work as normal, but instead of giving PB days at when there are no more on call days to give PB days for, then instead of banking them, the GS days worked count as double time above guarantee (like a lineholder GS). But I suspect many pilots wouldn't like that cause I too can turn a two day 4hrs of block GS into 27hrs credit (10:30 on the month of GS, 17 with two banked PB days) at least a couple times a year.

It's not a DB move. Sorry. Just like an OOBWS is not taking "your" greenslip. What if a senior guy has a blind WS in for the whole month and can't pick up a trip due to time constraints, and something happens that later in the month allow him to do so? I.e. He is trying to drop a trip later in the month and due to reserve coverage he can't. Then coverage somehow works out, his trip drops and the WS hits? Too bad for you, but not a DB move by a long shot.

My overall system seniority has zero to do with this issue.

My point was if you see in PCS someone is burning PB days and put in a blind WS to break that up and take their trip that’s a DB move, hopefully we can agree on that. I get other stuff can happen but if I successfully burn a trip with a friend 4 times and on the 5th it gets snagged by someone senior I’m gonna be suspicious. Not enough to message the person, but enough to keep an eye out to see if it’s a pattern.

with your system seniority, wouldn’t you have decent relative seniority? I would assume you are definitely top half of your category, and probably approaching top 1/3d, no? I just found it odd you would say anyone junior to you was “jailbait” when you have excellent system seniority what appears to be pretty decent relative seniority. it seems like that comment would be more applicable to someone at 70-80% in their category.
