Default Headsets 73

Need a new headset as I'm going to the 73. Looking at the Bose a20 vs the pro flight 2 in ear. Leaning towards the a20 as I'm looking for max anr protection. Anyone used both out there and can give an opinion? Thanks

I was a big in-ear with Comply tips guy until I kept having compacted ear wax problems. Completely did away with sticking anything in my ears, even normal ear buds. FWIW.

I used them both on the 73 and preferred the ProFlight. The ANR is more than adequate the weight on the head is significantly more comfortable on longer flights. That said, I didn’t mind the A20, so I’d say it’s really a matter of whether or not you think you’d be bothered by the in-ear system.

If you want to give them a try, buy them at Crew Outfitters. They have a 30-day return policy, effectively letting you fly a month with a set.

FWIW, I second the ProFlight 2's. All-day comfortable, light, smaller in your bag, and plenty good ANR. Plus, you can do one-ear off much easier, since it has a little hook to hold the off-ear bud out of the way. I hated flying one-ear off on other airplanes.

+1 on the Pro Flight…used the A20 on the 73 previously for years and yes it’s quiet….but it’s also designed for GA, so kind of overkill on the 73.

Sat on the Pro Flight, so I used the A20 again for a couple of weeks. Night and day after a long day. Bose fixed and refurbished it for free as well.

Main complaint are things in your ear. Try other Bose earbuds and see if you like them. The Bose Sound Sport for workouts are nice and give you a good feel for their product at only $150. Bose earbuds are different than other brands.

Good for other aircraft as well. If you fly a topless aircraft, you can keep one bud in. Having one ear off on the A20 is lame after awhile.

The Pro Flight is in a league of all its own but it’s still a headset. Honestly with the availability of the A30, I wouldn’t even consider the A20 an option.

I used my A20s for a year on the 73, and for 4 years on the RJ. I upgraded to the A30s in April and I LOVE them. I felt discomfort on longer legs on the 20s and I've had zero problems with the 30s. 10/10 recommend!

Pro Flight are fantastic. Comfy, not as bulky as an A20-size headset, less bulk when in it's hard case compared to A20-size case, great noise canceling and bluetooth functionality. 737 is a noisy sumb*itch too.

you guys are selling me on the pro flights. I had heard setup is kinda a pain? Any truth to that? Also I had looked at the a30s, but seem like a cheaper looking version of the a20s ans rhe ANR is the same. I've also considered the David Clark pro x.

Setup??....Pain?? I didn't know there was setup in the 4 years I've used mine. Nor painful. Sounds like you may have heard bad info.

You unbox it, throw in the batteries, and plug it in. If you’re feeling really sporty you can try different sizes of ear plug. Super easy.
