Unless I’m mistaken, I have zero hours of paid sick leave that I may use to care for a sick dependent. I don’t see how Delta pilots can be considered excluded from Minnesota State Sick?

I print out the form and bring it with me pre-filled out as much as possible (name, employee No., etc.), then ask the doc or clerk to please fill out and sign.

This is correct. The state law changed and now requires employers to pay into a state fund for these bennefits. It starts in 2026 and if an employer can show that they provide an equivalent bennefit they can become exempt from the funding requirement. Since Delta provides this to all employees except pilots all they had to do was convince the state we had an equivalent bennefit. So according to the state we do.

I agree. Our PWA is federally negotiated to equally apply to all. Anything other than that can be carved out in the PWA, like co-terminals and other minor items. But sick leave is uniform across the group; there is no contractual carve out. No group should be able to use that equally negotiated benefit for unequal benefit. If any domicile's local laws allow a superior usage of a collectively negotiated benefit, then all domiciles should get that benefit.

Given that the company argued that we had an equivalent benefit, I think we're all now good to use if for family.

How does the GFB/note situation work for a state sick call?

How about the lookback? Is verification still required for state sick calls?

Agreed. The IMSAFE model has acknowledged for decades that intense life event distractions can be a safety issue. A criticall ill family member is a far greater threat than 47 hours after taking Nyquill.

I'm a little late to the game as I've been on vacation but I just saw the sick incentive results. And I just came here to say...

I'm so proud of all of you and this is the proudest I've been to be a Delta pilot in quite a while. This was exactly the kind of news I needed before I went back to work. Prioritize your physical and mental health and the health of others.
