People will take any opportunity to hate on Curly. He wasn't a saint, was very polarizing and definitely spoke his mind.
His retirement picture in the Atlanta pilot lounge was filled front and back, and an additional foamboard as well, with nothing but compliments and thanks for everything he did for the pilot group over the years. Probably 500 signatures. Subjectively I think people's opinions on him are driven primarily by where they were hired, where they are based, and more recently, who they have flown with that likes grinding axes. Objectively he helped bring the pilot group and Delta as a whole to where we are now. If that makes him a bad guy... |
If this guy can have access to the seniority list, why can't my pass riders have access to Travelnet?

And this isn't just pilots it's literally every employee of those companies. |

The real question I have here is whether or not our SL is protected company information. If so, then Curly getting it from a bro means the bro violated our company IT policies. I don't know the answer to that question about whether the SL is protected Delta information or not. My guess is there is some control on it as the company does not offer it publicly and it's only available to those with a valid Deltanet login and permissions to access the Flight Operations tab. However I was surprised that before I even had an employee number at Delta years ago, that I could create a free newhire account "trial" and view the entire seniorty list, names and ages (retirement dates), BES and employee number. Anybody on the internet could/can view the seniority list via the site. It wouldn't bother me at all, and I would prefer, that the name information on the site is scrubbed. This would change nothing about the functionality of the site. |

I don't see it the way you do. What other third parties can "tunnel" into our servers? Have you looked at the HR side of the house? Probably not.

There is no reason Easy Bid, Easy Swap and iCrewmax were throttled other than company hatred. Software access licenses and access agreements are available and many many fortune 100 companies use thrid parties with licensing and security arrangements. It's nothing new.

That’s my point, though. Zero third parties tunnel into the servers, afaik. HR uses some subcontractors, but that’s yet another category of thing. And they have robust certifications and security, like Ping. That’s not how Curly gets his data.
Totally agree. Totally agree. But this is DL IT, where we Do Everything Like The Amish. Ever Let Technology Advance |

Pass riders being unable to book themselves (and me violating company rules if I share a password login) seems antiquated. |

I love this company, but I have to agree: the travelnet booking system needs a major overhaul.
Pass riders being unable to book themselves (and me violating company rules if I share a password login) seems antiquated. I was flying. Gate agent hooked them up on a non rev listing. I get a call from the CPO asking why I listed my parents on flights to multiple cities close by. When I returned that call and had the lady check what happened, she apologized and gave me some “that’s how the Delta family looks out for one another” rant. Then tells me I should fill out a recognition form for the agent. I didn’t even know any of this happened until the lady called me, then I had to check with my parents to find out the story. This then led me to my closing line of that call. “Well I don’t have anything else for you other than you should find a better way to spend your day than doing this kind of stuff.” So yeah, travelnet needs a little buff to bring it up to the year 2005. |
Well, I've never filled out the semi-annual Delta survey.
Maybe this would be an approriate (non punitative if not well received) comment. OTOH, I just buy tickets for my folks. Rarely on Delta ($$$). Honestly, that's probably how Delta prefers it. |
