Any international cats seeing a small portion of their international per diem suddenly being taxed with no domestic layovers? This started in FEB.

Not everyone. They changed the plan so that under certain circumstances the non-cons can get more than the pilots. Because they “have to honor” the pwa as written.

to be honest, I didn’t know the non cons got that bonus. I just meant all pilots got the same $. I figured the non cons had a different structure.

but that sounds on brand for this management team.

I think this started showing up in February because of our Jan-Dec per diem setting timing.

This year's international per diem exceeds the GSA (federal) maximum daily allowance. The amount that exceeds the GSA rate is subject to tax withholdings, Social Security and Medicare. When we get our 2026 W-2, it'll show up under one of those weird letter codes as taxable income.

More information is available with a search using the phrase "perdiem that exceeds federal limits"

No worries, neither does the company. You can't get it wrong if nobody knows what's right.

Over the winter they started only giving the pilots 3 of the 4 items because of how it is worded in the PWA ... so now the max we will get is $75. The Union wasn't interested in grieving it.

The program was always 3 components: on time, baggage, and completion. For 2026 they added a 4th component and changed the calculation method for non contract employees. One month that resulted in a $75 payment for them, and a $50 payment for us. ALPA didn’t grieve it because there wasn’t anything to grieve, the payment to the pilots was still the same as previous years and in compliance with the PWA. They didn’t take anything away from the pilots, rather gave something extra to the other employees.

Could they have also given pilots the $75? Of course. But they claimed that they had to “honor the contract” as written.
