Daughter purchased tix to fly international. Delayed out of NYC-ATL 4 hours on clear day. Gets to ATL and flight to Brazil cancelled. They put her on the next morning and that flight is delayed 4 hours. Sister called last week and said her company only flies Delta out of SLC but is switching due to our slide. Get down to Virginia today and my entrepreneur buddy says, “Your airline sucks. I just flew to San Jose and everything is always delayed.” I guess we’ll just keep relying on United to be worse. Apparently management can’t do any better.

I see that flight delayed more than PVG or ICN out of DTW. My theory only, is that flight has no partner connections like ICN(Korean) or PVG( China Eastern) so they will prioritize those with tail swaps.

Well, if he's an HVC, remind him to fill out his questionnaire. Those are read, recorded, and sent to supervisors, guaranteed.
If you think managing 17000+ pilots is tough, imagine trying to keep an eye on almost 30,000 flight attendants. I'll note that octogenarian and investor Doug Casey recently mentioned in a podcast that he flew from Sao Paulo to ATL and favorably compared the experience to flying on Emirates. Not just the seats but the entire crew interaction. (He's been to well over 100 countries and has flown on every possible airline you can imagine. I gritted my teeth when he mentioned the route..but was EXTREMELY surprised with the praise.) There's definitely some friction between newer flight attendants intersecting with the "safety first!!!" culture vs those FA's who see captain's instructions as more of a guideline than a rule. |

A family member is a very successful entrepreneur. When he’s not flying private, he’s flying Delta. Right now he’s in the middle of a large private equity deal in Dallas. He texted me this week. “Is Delta not doing drink service anymore?” 4 of his last 4 flights between DFW and ATL he wasn’t even offered a water. I of course asked about turbulence and he said the flights were mostly smooth. We are definitely slipping and it’s embarrassing.
Completely smooth for the duration of cruise. Captain made his cruise altitude/smooth air/seat belt sign off announcement while the FAs were up with a big bottle of water and a stack of cups. Nary a cart ever seen. Truly embarrassing and unacceptable. |
