Are there legit gripes? Absolutely. Is DALPA perfect? Not even close. I am however, still very happy to be here. Want to cry about an unfair world? Feel free. I'm not going to join in or commiserate. I will hand you a tissue though.

Flt Ops is still fighting to begin hiring this year. When hiring starts the spigot will stay open for a decade. Very possible 321's w/330's on the way. Economy actually showing signs of life. Company estimating only 25% to 30% stay to 65. Signs of DAL life on West Coast. If only a 1/3d of what RA is planning happens, we are in for a rocket ship ride over the next 15yrs.

Well,

Hello There Cheap Trick - 43 Posts, Welcome to APC. Left seat after 9 years in the 727, but then pay cuts, stagnation, displacements, etc - Ain't that a Shame, try all of the above from the right seat. Look, its not like the average DAL FO wants to Surrender, but we were just hoping it would be different This time around. Being a California Man (LAX 73N) I am happy about the signs of West Coast coming alive but we probably won't see much movement out here on this bid - Hard to tell.

As far as being positive - nothing wrong with that, But DAL always seems to disappoint with theses AE's, what can we say, She's Tight when it comes to the advancement side - not so much with the displacement side.

Hope you are right about the good things that are just around the corner.

What I'm getting at is that the demise of the RJ, even the 50 seater, has been exaggerated ... as was the "crisis" at Pinnacle.

It was an exercise in resetting a few thousand pilots pay, lower, so as to make outsourcing more beneficial.

While touting this as a "win," ALPA again lost:
  • ALPA members replaced by non ALPA members
  • ALPA membership decreasing
  • ALPA dues decreasing
  • ALPA exposed to potential DFR by allowing one pilot group to ignore the Admin Manual
  • D-ALPA marginalized by not even being in the room while another pilot group did a deal with Delta management.
Tactical withdrawal is a tactic, not a long term strategy.

I am an ALPA fan and supporter. 99.5% of what they (we) do is on track and I am impressed with our results in Washington. However, as an organization I believe ALPA is being mismanaged. Outsourcing is the reason why.

Doesn't count, you're on a Airbus. They don't know how to staff Airbi because they don't know how many pilots it really requires to fly. They're confused and have been for a while.

This bid as previously announced closes the ATL 767 Domestic category, and all DC9 Categories. There were 3 NYC 765 B displacements posted. No other NYC displacements.

When factoring in the displacements, this bid has posted a net positive 83 new Captain positions and a total net positive 57 positions."

This is Council 66's FB post. Look how rosy they make it all sound!! Of Course they show all the vacancy numbers but not the displacement numbers. And what us really junior guys care about are all the windfall displacements that aren't published.

I am happy that I have a job here at Delta. Kinda....
It was predictable...

We are adding 669 pilots, almost as many as we predicted. Damn, you people complain too much. One day your complaining we're going to furlough, then we add nearly 700 pilots and 100 737s, 88 717s and 65 MD90s and you freaking new hire keyboard warriors still come here and complain. Nothing is going to make you happy. Go to UCAL or SWA!"

sound about right?
I think we should have a contest to see who can generate the happiest post about the AE.

Displacements from wide body to large narrow body. Displacements from large narrow body to small narrow body. These are obviously to lower paying categories. This is just one of the things that sleepy Ed meant when he called our TA "cost neutral" before we approved it. Now what did our "union" mean when they strongly refuted Ed's comment? What did our "union" mean during those road shows when they talked about this deal producing growth and more money for all...if we just approve this "time critical" deal?

My hope is that many will remember who lied to them and who didn't. I hope none of us will ever again suspend our own sense of logic for the passionate and emotional scare tactics and sales pitches of the union official of the moment. If we could just do that, our futures will all be brighter.

I'm just hoping that the hinted at more widebodies offsets the slide to smaller aircraft. Otherwise a good chunk of my 4 8 3 3 will be chewed up via getting displaced from a small narrowbody to a smaller narrowbody!

The "rocket ship ride" can't happen soon enough for this 14 year FO. I hope you are right.
