So was the DAL MEC fully engaged and involved in the process of coming up with this, or was it another instance, similar to the SSP, of excluding the lawful bargaining agent for Delta pilots and negotiating directly with another pilot group?

The 1500 hour rule is obviously making it very hard for the regionals to hire pilots at below-bus-driver wages. This flow up will provide career incentive to these guys faced with taking on $100k in debt for a $20k/year job. Maybe the Mgt opener for Contract 15 will include a sponsorship program. Each Delta pilot subsidizes one regional pilot with a $2k/month stipend. This would allow them to "attract career-minded pilots while positioning the airline for growth." |

I think the gentleman's approach with DALPA is only used when Mgt wants something the pilots have. We have no control over who they hire, so they have no real reason to engage the union.

Oh yeah, DALPA doesn't control who Delta hires, just as long as they are a card carrying member.
Come on sailing, none of this would be possible if Bendover wasn't ALPA. Also, all these commitments with big D are null and void if we vote ALPA out at 9E |
Bombardier, already facing an 18-24 month delay for its CSeries, may face another delay, some fear, following Friday’s reported uncontained engine failure of the Pratt & Whitney P1500G Geared Turbo Fan engine. |

Since when did unions take over hiring at Delta. I think the program sucks but management decides who they hire and controls the seniority list. I doubt they will hand hiring over to DALPA.
ALPA'S role will be the special working group of DCI Carriers who are in DC talking to the Advisory and Regulatory side of the FAA for a special carve out with Delta management. Yeah, and seeing as how this is "Delta flying" I do believe our MEC has a role to play (even if they try to avoid involvement). ALPA PAC is important. There is no direct connection, but if (and I mean if, because it is not yet confirmed) that ALPA is lobbying to lower standards to facilitate outsourcing then this disturbs me. Further, ALPA should be against this flow that abrogates seniority and results in Delta's new hires being trained by rejected SSP guys. This is Delta flying and it should be performed by Delta pilots. However, this scheme will fail. We will be looking at plan B soon enough. |

I guess the Co. didn't see the need to exercise the highly vaunted engagement on this. Or maybe it's just a one way-street  |

Doesn't Delta fully own Endeavor?
Remember the slogan "being owned by Delta means everything. " Or at least maybe unless you strike for better wages .... |

Do you think this new program will help stop or slow the bleeding though?

Yes. ... and it should be apparent to anyone with a drop of true blue labor blood in their body that these are Delta pilots from day 1.
